Kwaneta Harris

Kwaneta Harris is a mother and former nurse and now incarcerated journalist in the largest state prison, Texas. Serving a 50-year sentence as a criminalized survivor of intimate partner violence, her powerful and shocking stories expose how the state-sanctioned, gender-based violence directly maps onto broader U.S. culture. An abolitionist feminist, Kwaneta advocates for non-carceral solutions for those who harm as well as showing how mainstream issues including abortion, gun debate and climate change affect justice-impacted people.
