Eating Right with Candice Kumai's Pretty Delicious

I grew up in a family of healthy eaters. Fruits, veggies, and whole grains have been kitchen staples of mine ever since I can remember, and I usually do a pretty good job of sticking to a healthy diet. That said, I'll be the first to tell you that, being human, I occasionally crave a burger or a cupcake. To be honest, I think we all do, which is why I am such a big fan of Candice Kumai and her new cookbook coming out this fall, Pretty Delicious, in which every great-tasting recipe (including sliders and cupcakes, of course) contains healthy ingredients that benefit your body.A few weeks ago, I went to an event celebrating the launch of Pretty Delicious (out in October), where I had the chance to sample some of the book's great new recipes--and ask Candice a few questions about her food philosophies, influences, and how we can all go about eating healthy food that still tastes great.

Leighton Meester and Kelly Osbourne's Belly-Baring Battle

While most people start covering up for the chilly days ahead, Leighton Meester and Kelly Osbourne are taking this last chance at summer weather to bare some skin! Leighton kept it strictly rock n' roll at the Proenza Schouler fashion show by pairing a sexy mid-drift knit top with a boldly tiered mini-skirt. Her red lipstick and bag add the perfect vin feel to this super fresh ensemble. On the other side of town, Kelly unleashed her inner-princess in a frilly lace ensemble straight off the Betsey Johnson runway. The surprise band of skin in the middle adds some edge to this super-girly frock, while Kelly's signature swept-back hair, clear shoes and visible tattoos keep the look distinctly hers. But now it's up to you to decide! Which one of these alluring ladies wore the mid-drift look better? Let us know in the comments below!

Checking out the Nintendo DS1 Studio Fashion Week Lounge

Talk about treatment! This past week I was invited to attend the Nintendo DSi Studio Fashion Week Lounge, where beauty meets play. Treatments by Rita Hazan hair salon, Minx nails, and my favorite Temptu face make-up were all under one roof at the Empire Hotel. I had such a fun time playing with the new Nintendo DSi and Nintendo DSi XL--and getting my hair, nails, and make-up done was definitely a plus. Temptu is an amazing airbrush concealer that doesn't cake up and actually LASTS! Ladies are you listening? It really lasts, and I put it to the test by keeping it on for 24 hours (not a crazy night of partying but a very long airplane flight) I usually hate putting on concealer, it feels heavy and most times it doesn't even match up with your skin tone. But this was nothing short of a miracle, so light that I didn't even feel it go on! Next on my pampering extravaganza? Having my hair done by the pros from the Rita Hazan Salon! Although I was a little skeptical at first because my curly hair can be very difficult to deal with, my worries were blown away--literally! My hair was blown out and straightened to perfection, what a treat! Hair and make-up? Check! And for the piece de resistance, Minx nails, a new trend I have been itching to try out for so long! I was not disappointed and flashed my nails every chance I got. I totally felt like royalty and by the end of the night, looked like it too; this is definitely what heaven must feel like!
