7 Pieces of Outdated Tech for ’13 Reasons Why’ Season 2
Ever since the end of the first season of 13 Reasons Why, fans have been speculating at what a potential season 2 would look like, if it even could happen. After all, Hannah Baker's tapes are done, and the source material is tapped — though clearly everyone on the tapes, not to mention Hannah's parents and the rest of the Liberty High community (like that poor girl Clay harassed just because she got Hannah's locker) has a lot more story left to tell. But we actually are getting season 2, which means there's a whole new range of stories to be told, and they probably won't rely on the cassette tapes Hannah left behind. That said, we're not saying goodbye to that outdated tech altogether, though we are hopefully getting rid of the show's problematic and outdated approach to mental health. In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Brian Yorkey said the next season of the hit show will include something completely different, and totally unknown: "There will be a new piece of technology for 13-year-olds to Google and try to understand what it was."
Which leads us to speculate, just which piece of old-school tech will make its debut at Liberty High in 2018? Now that we're moving on from cassette tapes, Walkmans, and the tape deck in Tony's car, the world of obsolete technology is basically our oyster. Here are some of our top picks for what we'd like to see resurrected from the backs of our parents' closets and brought to the Netflix screen.
