8 Designers of Color to Watch at NYFW
Fashion is at its best when it's inclusive. A love for style transcends all racial, ethnic, gender, and identity lines, thus it only makes sense that the industry be as open to new talent as possible. Hundreds of designers show each NYFW and we're happy to report that there are some amazing designers of color who have caught our eye this season. They're not all new to showing — and certainly aren't new to the business — but they're making an incredible impact this year. From appointments at major fashion houses to our favorite mogul and supermodel, here's who you need to have on your radar.

Radhika Perera-Hernandez of Lois London
The British-born designer is showing for the first time this season, with a collection that blends touches of her Sri Lankan roots with her label's signature draping. She has worked for Beyoncé's Dereon line in the past, as well as owning her own online reconstructed vintage shop, so let's just say the buzz is real.

Jerome Lamaar of 5:31 Jerome
With fans including Solange Knowles and Beyoncé, as well as a recently-opened boutique in his native The Bronx, we have no doubt that Jerome is going to hit it out of the park for Spring 2017.

Kimora Lee Simmons
After a Resort 2017 lookbook that starred daughters Ming and Aoki Lee, we're itching with excitement to see Kimora's latest efforts. And whether or not the girls walk the runway, of course.

Oday Shakar
Oday is back at NYFW after a brand-refocusing hiatus. He's putting his Iraqi roots and diversity into the forefront. Imaan Hammam is set to walk, so we know it will be a must-see collection.

Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia for Oscar de la Renta
Both Laura and Fernando honed their craft under Mr. de la Renta's tutelage, thus the design duo are officially coming home as co-Creative Directors of the house.

Heron Preston for DSNY
Heron Preston has some serious fashion cred, as he's worked with Kanye West, Virgil Abloh and Nike—to name a few. This season, he's collaborating with The New York Department of Sanitation (pretty different if we do say so ourselves) on a collection of utilitarian must-haves, crafted from donated uniforms of the DSNY and upcycled clothing.

Maryam Nassir Zadeh
Maryam created the shoe brand that launched a thousand squeals of sartorial glee, as well as a slew of less expensive knockoffs. With Margot Robbie and almost the entirety of the fashion set as fans, her show is sure to be star-studded.
