9 Celebrity Feuds from 2017
If there’s one thing that 2017 was certainly not lacking, it was celebrity drama (drama drama). From YouTube spats to Twitter feuds, stars certainly did not hold back this year when it came to letting their feelings be heard. Of course, in some instances, fans interpreted vague comments as shade, creating chaos where there might not be any at all. Nevertheless, it seems as though every day brought a new possible beef — some of which played out on social media right before our eyes.
As we get ready to kiss 2017 goodbye, let’s take a moment to look back at some of the biggest celebrity feuds of the year, from the Drake Bell/Josh Peck wedding fiasco to Taylor Swift shading...well, almost everyone.

Once upon a time, Justin Bieber and Marilyn Manson got into it over a t-shirt (yep, a t-shirt).
The whole thing started when Justin’s Purpose tour merch included a shirt with Marilyn’s face on the front and the phrase “Bigger than Satan…Bieber” on the back. In response, Marilyn posted a photo of Justin wearing one of his shirts, captioning it “Bigger than Bieber,” and also shared a photo reading “The Douche Show,” with another jab at the Biebs. Things also got messier when Marilyn claimed that he “made Justin relevant” in an interview with Consequence of Sound.
The two musicians eventually made up, but the feud reignited earlier this fall, when Marilyn referred to Justin as a “girl,” claiming that he “doesn’t like to fight with girls.” Oy.

Model Chrissy Teigen certainly does not hold back when it comes to using social media to voice her opinions, and recently she took to Twitter to call out some pretty fake friends. The whole thing started when E! News ran a story about her pregnancy cravings, siting sources close to the celebrity. Those “sources" reportedly told the outlet: “Her cravings are out of control during this time around and she has no discipline.” (FYI, this is a pretty hurtful and shaming comment, and it's never OK to attack someone’s weight or eating habits.)
In turn, Chrissy tweeted back to E! News: “You guys should do a service to all the celebs who give you hourly content and say who your sources are so we can get rid of the sh*tty ‘friends’ in our lives who sell you stories.” Ouch — but the model certainly has a point. If there are people who are turning around and selling stories to the media, they definitely aren’t real friends of Chrissy’s.

Our childhood dreams were dashed when Drake Bell was left off the invite list to Josh Peck’s wedding earlier this summer. And it seems as though fans weren’t the only ones who were upset; Drake took to Twitter to pen some pretty eyebrow-raising messages about loyalty that definitely seemed to be a dig at his former costar. Things quickly spiraled out of control, with fans spamming Josh’s Instagram in response, and Miranda Cosgrove was even dragged into the mess (although she handled it like a pro). Luckily, it seems as though all’s well that ends well, as Drake and Josh reunited at the MTV VMAs, and the fight ultimately brought them closer together. Phew.

After YouTube stars Jake Paul and Alissa Violet ended their relationship, Alissa filmed a pretty damning video, accusing her former boyfriend of “cheating on her all the time” and emotionally abusing her. Things escalated from there, with Jake later alleging that Alissa’s new boyfriend FaZe Banks assaulted his assistant, and also claiming that she had hooked up with his brother, Logan. Ugh, so messy.

Jake wasn’t the only YouTuber that Alissa feuded with this year; prior to her “tell-all” video, fans were convinced that Alissa and Tessa Brooks were fighting as well. The reason? Alissa seemingly photoshopped Tessa out of a photo, which everyone knows is a pretty yikes move. However, Alissa denied that there was any bad blood, writing on Twitter: “No hate, the pic is just better with me.” Hmm.

2017 started off with some leftover drama from 2016, as it was about a year ago that news broke surrounding Camila Cabello’s departure from Fifth Harmony. Since then, there seems to have been several subtle digs from the girl group to their former member, like the time they literally threw a “fifth singer” offstage during the MTV VMAs. That said, all of the girls have talked about moving forward, and it would seem as though they are all in a better place now, Camila included. Others have continuously tried to stir up drama between the singers, but hopefully we can all let that go in 2018.

Fans were pretty sure that Halsey threw some shade at Demi Lovato and Katy Perry when she mentioned two of their song lyrics while talking about how a lot of pop music refers to bisexuality as a taboo. Things later got more complicated when Demi took to Twitter to write: “You know a song is a hit when people are still talking about the lyrics two years later. #shhhhdonttellyourmother,” which many fans interpreted as a vague clapback to Halsey’s comments.
Furthermore, Halsey also said that she didn’t want to collaborate with Katy Perry on her song “Strangers,” explaining: “I was like, I’m not putting an artist on this song unless they’re f*ing gay.” (For the record, it’s not cool to police other people’s sexual identity, and however someone identifies is 100% valid.) The spat didn't really evolve beyond that, but fans were pretty sure that there was some bad blood brewing between the singers.

Makeup artist James Charles found himself in the midst of a social media spat when he tweeted negative comments about the movie It…and then proceeded to do a Pennywise makeup tutorial later on. Fans called him out for doing a tutorial about a movie he didn’t like, and the cast members even got involved.
Wyatt Oleff jumped in and tweeted: “when you decide to exploit a movie that you hate for money & attention cause why not,” causing fans to drag James even further. Things only got more intense when James responded, but luckily the stars seemed to reach an understanding. Well, sort of.

When Taylor Swift made her “comeback” this summer with the announcement of her single “Look What You Made Me Do” and subsequent album Reputation, fans were quick to look for all the shady digs they could find. And there were quite a lot. People concluded that the pop star might have dissed Katy Perry, Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, and, well, even herself — all at once. Of course, Taylor hasn’t confirmed any of these theories — but fans have certainly determined that the clues might speak for themselves.
