A Shopping Guide to CBD Beauty Products

With the recent unveiling of Milk Makeup's Kush Waterproof Mascara, beauty products infused with CBD (cannabidiol) remain a hot topic of conversation in the makeup community. From Kiehl's to Origins, numerous beauty brands are continuing to add CBD to its list of makeup ingredients. If you're wondering what exactly CBD is, and what products contain the ingredient, we've got you covered.

According to The Washington Post, CBD is among the many compounds found in cannabis, also known as marijuana. Although the CBD compound comes from cannabis, Harvard Health reports, it will not get you high.

The reason CBD won't get you high is because the oil usually comes from a hemp plant, and that plant does not contain enough tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) to cause a high. In fact, the World Health Organization said of CBD that, "There is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD," Harvard Health points out.

As Allure explained, when cannabis contains less than 0.3% THC, it's considered hemp, and is therefore legal. So, don't worry because you won't get in trouble for stocking up on any CBD makeup.

For its inclusion in makeup, CBD has been shown to help clear up acne, reduce inflammation, and could potentially strengthen your hair and nails.
