All the Met Gala 2024 First-Timers: Stray Kids, Ayo Edebiri, Tyla, and More

Everyone wants an invite to Met Gala 2024, and each year a new crop of first time Met Gala attendees takes the carpet.

Fashion’s biggest and most exclusive night means you’re stepping into a new level of stardom, so it's a coveted invitation for many celebrities to receive. For many, that fame is only the beginning.

Popular K-pop group Stray Kids made their Met Gala 2024 debut wearing Tommy Hilfiger. The eight-member group wore Tommy's signature red, white, and blue on the carpet. The group is also making history tonight. This is the first time ever an entire K-pop group has attended the Met Gala together. We also saw popular South African singer Tyla in a bodycon Balmain gown. And, everyone's favorite actress, Ayo Edibiri, made her debut wearing a floral white gown up the carpet. Gracie Abrams also made her red carpet debut wearing a midi-dress with a black bedazzled top.

The 2024 Met Gala will celebrate the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” The official dress code of the night is “The Garden of Time.” This year’s exhibit will highlight roughly 250 “rare items” drawn from the Costume Institute’s permanent collection. Spanning over 400 years of fashion history, the pieces will include designs by Schiaparelli, Dior, Givenchy, and many others. There will also be inclusion of garments that are too fragile to ever be worn again that will be displayed via video animation, light projection, AI, CGI, and other forms of sensory stimulation. The Met Gala hosts this year are Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and Chris Hemsworth.
