We Now Have the Names of the Four New Houses for the American Hogwarts!
Apparently, Ilvermory, the American version of Hogwarts, has some surprises in store! As we anxiously await Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a gentleman known as Federico Ian Cervantez stumbled upon code for a quiz on Pottermore, the official Harry Potter website, which allegedly reveals the new Houses. Considering their names are Horned Serpent, Wampus, Thunderbird, and Pukwudgie, we bet you're in for a little bit of a surprise. Ahead, the definition of each 'beast,' so you can get your Sorting Hats ready.
1/4Wampus
The Wampus is described as a "fearsome" take on a cougar...as if cougars weren't already fearsome enough. Considering Gryffindor's mascot was a lion, we found Harry's house equivalent.
2/4Thunderbird
The Thunderbird is a "legendary creature" that can create storms as it flies. Think of it as Ravenclaw meets Pokémon. Padma Patil and other bookworms would feel right at home.
3/4Horned Serpent
The Horned Serpent is basically exactly as it sounds, but with "dragon-like" qualities. It also has magical elements, like the ability to shape-shift, be invisible, or hypnotize. (Uh, Draco Malfoy and Slytherin? We're looking at you.)
4/4Pukwudgie
The Pukwudgie is a two-to-three feet tall human-shaped creature with a big nose, ears, and fingers with grey skin that glows. It can disappear and reappear, and also partially or completely transform into a porcupine or a cougar and create fire. That seems like a bizarre, semi-appealing creature, but we're sure Cedric Diggory and the rest of the Hufflepuffs would think it's the perfect fit.
