Behati Prinsloo Just Made the Juicy Couture Tracksuit Cool Again
2016 Axelle/Bauer-Griffin1/10Behati Prinsloo has all the makings of a successful modeling career: high fashion runway shows, photo shoots for international glossies, and a major contract with Victoria’s Secret. Recently, she added a new credential to her already enviable resume: designer. The highly-anticipated collection she created with iconic brand, Juicy Couture, finally hit stores this week.
At an intimate preview for the line at Chelsea's Dream Hotel, Behati shared that the mostly fun design process did come with some challenges. “The most challenging part was nailing a certain vibe for the collection,” she said.
If Behati had trouble choosing a theme, you can't tell from the final product. The collection features playful baby tees, denim duster coats, and cropped velour track suits — all inspired by "a laid back 1970s skater vibe," she said. The designs perfectly blend Behati’s model-off-duty style with Juicy Couture’s signature charm, giving way to a fresh, updated look for the label.
The 26-year-old model, who is currently expecting her first child with Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, says the entire design experience was rewarding: "I think you learn a lot about pinpointing your idea and seeing it evolve into something." Would she consider designing again in the future? "I definitely think if something cool comes up, I will try it again,” she shared, adding: “I really enjoyed it and I loved collaborating."
For now, her focus is on sharing this collection with women, like herself, who aspire to be comfy and stylish at the same time. Mission accomplished.
