How To Make A Cinched Belt Tote
Follow a few simple steps to transform your basic canvas bag.
1/8What You Need
-Cotton tote bag
-Colored belt
-Fabric scissors
-Pencil
-Grid ruler
-Fray Check
2/8Draw Line
Turn the bag inside out and lay it flat. Line the ruler up with one side at the bottom of the handle. Starting 1 1/2 inches away, draw a 1-inch line.
3/8Cut Along Lines
Carefully cut a slit along each pencil line.
4/8Apply Fray Check
Apply Fray Check along each cut, and allow it to dry.
5/8The Finished Tote
6/8Draw Another Line
Draw another line on the other side of the handle, also 1-inch long, starting from 1 1/2 inches away.
7/8Repeat On Other Side
Repeat on the other side of the strap, and again on the other side of the bag.
8/8Thread Belt
Thread the belt through the cuts. Cinch and buckle the belt.
