We know—Halloween isn't supposed to be fashionable…but that doesn't mean it can't be fashion-inspired. So, with about a month and half to go until the big day, we thought we'd suggest five killer costume ideas you can start planning now. Be warned: Your football-obsessed brother probably won't put together that you're dressed as a Marc Jacobs model—but your bestie will (and so will we!), and that's all that matters, right?

There are all kinds of Miley iterations you could choose to model your Halloween costume after, but we happen to be partial to this DIY look…mainly because it would involve an arts and crafts hour. Find your most colorful bathing suit top, then tie an equally print-tastic sarong (or table cloth, or heck, even a curtain) around your waist. For accessories, you can make beaded necklaces and bracelets or just start gluing random things together…it could be a good way to finally clean out your childhood bedroom, actually. Mom would love that.

The Marc Jacobs models always have a super signature look, but it’s not always easy to copy. Luckily, this year’s NYFW runway was the stuff DIY Halloween costume dreams are made of. All you need is a black shaggy wig, no makeup (we know you have that), a somewhat military-inspired outfit (just stick to olive green, navy, or gray), and a pair of Dr. Scholl’s sandals (you can bedazzle them if you’re feeling super committed). Voilà—you’re a Marc Jacobs model.

The key to nailing the Anna Wintour look is all in the hair and the glasses. Reference a photo like this one to make sure you're getting the correct length on both the bob and the bangs. Then, go for a super oversized pair of sunnies. After that, you'll want to stick with a high-necked knee- or midi-length dress (floral prints are always a plus), jeweled collar necklace, and a sensible heel. Add the latest Vogue issue under your arm to really drive the point home.
