Best Makeup Palettes of 2016
Palettes — arguably one of the biggest, buzziest beauty trends around — are not going away any time soon. In fact, brands both big and small have been debuting their latest and greatest eye, lip, base, and cheek products in palette form with no end in sight — some launching as many as 5 versions a year. (We're looking at you, Too Faced!) There's something about the compact configuration of all those colors that's so appealing. Instead of packing a bunch of different shades, the only thing you have to toss in your tote (or suitcase!) is a single, slim case. To get in on the palette party, we rounded up 12 winners you should definitely own — from Kylie Jenner's autumnal burgundy palette to Urban Decay's winning selection of neutrals. While some of these are sadly sold out, use this as a guide for brands to pay attention to in the upcoming year. After all, there's nothing worse than thinking about the palette that got away!

Too Faced Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette, $49
Sweet Peach was the brand's biggest launch this year — and it's no surprise. The palette literally smells like peaches, and it houses 18 super-flattering, warm-toned pinks, corals, bronzes and purples for every kind of mood.

Huda Beauty Eyeshadow Palette Rose Gold Edition, $65
When mega beauty influencer Huda Kattan created this rose gold eyeshadow palette, it sold out immediately and crashed her site for days. With 18 pigment-packed shades in cool texture like chrome, 3D metal, and pressed glitter, it's easy to see why everyone wanted one!

Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics Eyeshadow Palette, $54
You asked for it, Urban Decay delivered. The launch of the brand's first-ever Naked MATTE palette had the Internet in a frenzy. Like no other Naked palette before it, this square version features 9 opaque shades and was the ultimate must-have for UD lovers this year.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Master Palette by Mario, $45
We were OBSESSED with Mario Dedivanovic this year, so it's a no-brainer we'd also be obsessed with his first makeup palette collab with Anastasia Beverly Hills, too. 😍

Kylie Cosmetics The Burgundy Palette, $42
Kylie Jenner has turned shopping for beauty products online into a phenomenon. First, she made it big with her Lip Kits (we could barely get our hands on one for months). But, when she launched her KyShadows, the craze was even stronger. Fans went nuts trying to snag these pretty palettes.

Tarte Tarteist Pro Amazonian Clay Palette, $53
Real talk: We love everything Tarte puts out, so we had no doubt that this would be a huge launch for the brand. It has 16 pigment-packed shades (both pastels and bolds included) and 4 shimmer highlight colors. Drooling.

Kat Von D Serpentina Eyeshadow Palette, $64
Kat Von D teased fans for months about this jewel-toned palette — so obviously it sold out instantly when it launched in July. It featured eight matte and metallic shadows, plus a removable jar of loose gold pigment — because why not?

Morphe 35F Palette, $22.99
Even if you don't own a Morphe palette, you've no doubt seen them all over your Instagram. Beauty bloggers can't get enough of this affordable brand with high-quality pigments. And continuing on the rich burgundy, rose gold, and rust shadow trend, the new 35F was obviously a huge hit.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Palette, $80
If this white marble palette isn't what Instagram dreams are made of, we don't know what is. We bought this mostly for the packaging, but also for the dreamy, buttery-soft cheek powders inside.

Nars Narsissist Unfiltered Cheek Palette, $59
This is hands-down our favorite cheek palette of the year. Considering the fact that we have about 40 little velvety black compacts of Nars blush floating around our beauty stash, having them all in one pretty place was a welcome treat (and well worth the $60).
