These Three New Mascaras Are Changing the Game

As a beauty editor, I see mascara "innovations" all the time. New formulas, colors, and application methods come out and I am—literally—the first to bat my lashes and see what the fuss is all about. (Or, in some cases, isn't all about.)
Over the past few weeks I've been introduced to a handful of new products that are truly, seriously changing the game, and they're awesome enough that I wanted to share. From bent wands that grab every lash to coats so conditioning you can sleep in them, here are my new favorite tools for getting gorgeous in just a few swipes.

Why it's so cool: Using an insider makeup artist tip, Lancôme decided to permanently bend their new mascara wand for a swan-neck effect—the kinked shape allows you to get super close to the lash line and coat every single lash. The brush also serves as a mir to keep the formula fresh; the curve seals in air and stirs the glossy, Native Rose-Cell extract-infused solution each time you open it.
** How does it perform?** When I first lifted the brush out of the bottle, I was skeptical—I'd never seen such an interesting shape! I sat in front of my mirror and immediately realized how easy it is to use. The bent shape means no awkward contorting to reach your lashes, and the curved angle covers all areas of the eye in a simple motion—genius! Because it brushes through so easily, there's no smudging or clumping throughout the day, which is obviously ideal. This is definitely one to consider.

<a href="http://rstyle.me/n/nd4cspzi6" target="_blank">Buxom Vanity Lash Mascara</a>, $22 (for one brush + mascara formula).
Why it's so cool: From Curl & Contour to Big & Bushy, this new product allows you to choose the best brush for your lashes. Buy the strengthening formula (packed with biotin and vitamin b5), and then pair it with one of seven brush types. Can't decide if you want lift or length? Buy both—or all of them! (They're $11 each.)
** How does it perform?** If you're one to roam aimlessly down the drugstore aisles deciding what mascara to buy, or have an ever-growing mascara graveyard, this collection is for you. Decide exactly what your lashes need, and then simply find the corresponding brush head that works for that style. (Or, mix and match depending on your mood.) When I received the full set, I decided I wanted serious definition. I reached for the Thick & Defined wand and brushed it through once. The tapered tip is made up of "flexi-bristles," so not only can you really get the product in hard-to-reach spots, the brush evenly disperses the formula for even definition. I tend to pretty much stick to one signature, natural eyelash look, so I personally won't be taking advantage of wardrobing with different brushes—though it's a cute idea!

<a href="http://rstyle.me/n/nd4pipzi6" target="_blank">Josie Maran Argan Black Oil Mascara</a>, $22.
** Why it's so cool:** This blend of Argan oil and iron mineral pigments acts as a treatment and a rich mascara. Basically, the pure Argan oil and a touch of bamboo work together to deep condition your lashes. But here's the kicker: The formula stays on all day long, and it's so good for your lashes, Maran says you can even sleep in it. (Think of it as a color conditioner for your hair.)
** How does it perform?** As someone who often falls asleep without taking off all of her makeup (I know, I know!), I got really excited when I heard about this good-for-you formula. I decided to take it for a test-drive and do an overnight experiment. I brushed the naturally-derived wand through my lashes, went out for dinner, and came home to crash. The next day, my mascara was intact (not all over my pillow!), a little lived-in looking, and my lashes were fuller than ever. I don't recommend sleeping in your makeup, but it's nice to know that you can actually strengthen and nourish your lashes in the process.
