17 Celebrity Couples Who Dated On-Screen Too
On July 24, People reported that Riverdale stars Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart were seen kissing while at Comic-Con with their costars. Neither Cole nor Lili have addressed the rumors this time around — they set the record straight when fans thought that photos Cole took of Lili were a surefire sign that there was something more to their relationship — but it wouldn't be the first time that romance has blossomed on set.
From Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas to Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth, celebrity couples have met on set since... oh, there were TV and movie sets to meet on. Some duos, like Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, only began dating long after their films wrapped. Others, like Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, have since broken up. But it's impossible to watch their movies and TV shows without thinking about the IRL romance that lurked just off-screen while our fave projects were being filmed. Ahead, see 17 pairings that may have blossomed the minute a director yelled "Cut!"

Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse (Riverdale)
In the Archie comics, Jughead Jones is asexual, but Riverdale's first season paired him with Betty Cooper. Off-screen, Cole and Lili have been setting the record straight on their friendship for months but a new rumor has started after they were allegedly seen kissing backstage at Comic-Con.

Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato (Camp Rock)

Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling (The Place Beyond the Pines)
It seems almost wrong that two people so beautiful could stand being in the same room together… do their combined attractive forces cause the walls to shake and the earth to crack open?! Fortunately, it seems like the only result of the couple’s happy union is two beautiful baby girls. Congrats, fam.

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson (Twilight)
K-Stew and R-Patz were the on-again, off-again, couple heard ‘round the world. The Twilight costars fended off rumors of an entanglement for years without either one admitting they had the hots for each other. Although they were spotted together numerous times canoodling during the course of the franchise, it wasn’t until Kristen was caught with her director that she openly confessed her feelings for Rob. Unfortunately, it was a case of too little too late, but the two have moved on and seem happy in their present relationships.

Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield (The Amazing Spider-Man)
The two met on the set of The Amazing Spider-Man but were reportedly seeing other people at the time. Eventually, their spark couldn’t be contained, and Andrew and Emma were the it couple of the day. We loved them for their on screen chemistry and their paparazzi-avoiding antics, although sadly, the two have called it quits in recent years.

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher (That ‘70s Show)
No one could have guessed that Jackie and Kelso would wind up married IRL. They even have a daughter and one more kid on the way! Mila famously dated Macaulay Culkin for nearly a decade and Ashton was married to Demi Moore for eight years. But the actors found a way back to each other, after Ashton allegedly tried to set Mila up with a friend. It just goes to show: sometimes your first on screen love can be your actual soul mate.

Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder (The Vampire Diaries)
There seems to be a trend with vampiric costars turning into real life lovers… Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder held out on their relationship for as long as possible, with Nina even telling magazines she would never date a coworker. The pair didn’t end up working out in the end, but we have a treasure trove of pictures of them to look back on fondly. Ah, young blood-sucking love.

Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: First Class)
J-Law is America’s sweetheart, so it’s no wonder Nicholas Hoult fell in love with her while filming X-Men: First Class. The two were on and off for more than five years, allegedly due to their crazy busy schedules, and ultimately broke up but remain friendly. After all, who could hold a grudge against the ever-hilarious Jennifer Lawrence?

Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith (The Fresh Prince of Bel Air)
Jada ironically auditioned to play Will’s girlfriend on Fresh Prince back in 1995 but didn’t end up getting the role. We’ll never know where the show’s casting directors went wrong, but we know Will went the right way when he pursued her after the fact. More than two decades have passed and the couple is still going strong — they sit on their throne as the king and queen of Bel… Malibu.

Anna Faris and Chris Pratt (Take Me Home Tonight)
Alright, the movie the pair met on wasn’t exactly a box office hit, but it did bring the two lovebirds together! Anna and Chris met during the table read for the 2007 rom-com Take Me Home Tonight and the rest is history. The two are married and have an adorable son, Jack, who’s frequently featured in their Instagram pics.

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth (The Last Song)
The Notebook may have birthed the original Nicholas Sparks power couple, but Miley and Liam proved that the author still had what it takes to bring two young starlets together. Since the movie was released in 2010, they’ve been engaged, separated, Miley came in like a wrecking ball, and they’re reportedly back together again — Bravo.

Freida Pinto and Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire)
Their on-screen love was literally destined to be, and apparently so was their off screen relationship. Freida and Dev dated for six years before amicably splitting, but we still shed a tear for their lost love every time we hear “Jai Ho.”

Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron (High School Musical)
There were no teenagers more mega-famous in the early aughts than Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron. It seemed like the pair belonged together, because, well, they knew what it meant to live a super public lifestyle. After dating for over five years, the former Wildcats called it quits, and are still at the top of their acting careers.

Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender (The Light Between Oceans)
Although The Light Between Oceans hasn’t officially been released yet, the movie has been in the works since 2014! Filmed in Australia, Tasmania, and New Zealand, it seems like Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender had no choice but to fall in love — they filmed in some of the most beautiful destinations in the world. The popular couple likes to keep their relationship on the DL, but we expect to see much more of them this season on the red carpet.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt (Mr. and Mrs. Smith)
Ah, Brangelina — the powerful pair that made a joint couples’ name a legit thing. They met on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith but still famously deny getting together until after the fact. After all, Brad was married at the time and Angelina was newly divorced. The two announced their split in September 2016.

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds (Green Lantern)
Another case of wrong time, right people. The two met on the set of Green Lantern while Ryan was still married to Scarlett Johansson and Blake was dating Gossip Girl costar Penn Badgley. Although it took a while for the stars to come together, they eventually did, and now have their own little family in the works — more importantly, they party with Taylor Swift together, which is what really cements a couple.

Jenna Dewan Tatum and Channing Tatum (Step Up)
Arguably the cutest couple in Hollywood, the dancetastic pair met on the set of Step Up in 2006 and the rest is history. They still engage in dance offs, but now the winner gets to avoid diaper duty from their daughter, Everly. Ah, how the times may change but love rages on.
