24 of the Best Instagrams From the 2016 Oscars
- 1/26
Last night’s 88th annual Oscars brought many things. There were some eye-catching dresses on the red carpet, some uncomfortable moments during the awards (Stacey Dash, we’re lookin’ at you), powerful musical numbers (we’re still reeling from Lady Gaga’s amazing performance), and, of course, LEONARDO DICAPRIO’S FIRST OSCAR, which pretty much broke the Internet entirely. We rounded up 25 of the best Instagrams from last night’s show, to showcase how our favorite celebs spent the biggest evening in Hollywood.

Brie Larson
Brie Larson shows us how to prepare for a big awards show with this ‘gram of her delicious hotel breakfast. Next time we have a big day ahead, we’re definitely choosing the avocado toast too, because it seemed to work as a good luck charm for Larson who won her first Academy Award for Best Actress.

Sophie Turner
Sophie’s chic minimalistic Instagram pic of her Oscars ticket casually hanging out next to her cup of lemon tea makes us feel like we could be headed to the red carpet as well. Seriously, how many of us have snapped a pic of our coffee mug and then searched for the best filter to compliment it? Sophie Turner is all of us.

Abraham Attah
Speaking of adorable child actors, we love this shot of Abraham Attah getting ready to board his ride to the Oscars. Abraham, who received much critical acclaim this season for his performance in Beasts of No Nation, presented the award for Best Live-Action Short along with Jacob Tremblay.

Kerry Washington
Who needs the mani cam? Kerry Washington posted this gorgeous photo of her nail art yesterday before the awards. She also was very vocal on her presence at the Oscars, as many of her contemporaries boycotted the event. Washington said that she “wanted to be part of the conversation so there is institutional change, so we never have a year like this again.”

Chris Rock
One of the most anticipated events of the night was Chris Rock’s opening monologue, as we knew he would comment on the controversy surrounding the Oscars’ lack of diversity in the acting categories. One thing is for sure: he didn’t hold anything back — and we’re glad that he didn’t. Right before the show, he posted this picture of himself reviewing his lines for his big speech.

Heidi Klum
Heidi Klum was essentially a real life mermaid last night — but she was quick to admit that it takes a team to look like, well, Heidi Klum. Klum’s lavender gown was long-sleeved on one side and sleeveless on the other, with large accented flowers throughout the bodice. While some were quick to criticize the dress on Twitter, we definitely can agree that her outfit was one of the most daring of the evening.

Mindy Kaling
Mindy Kaling reminds us that even celebrities have normal clothes in this hilariously captioned Instagram picture. Kaling writes, “Forget the red carpet, here’s how I look in my bedroom by my shelf of sweatpants!” Her off-the-shoulder Elizabeth Kennedy gown is beautiful, and we love how she looks with her hair pulled back.

Chris Rock and the Girl Scouts
Chris Rock probably asked himself, “How do I top that moment when Ellen ordered pizza at the 2014 Oscars?” Clearly, this was the way to do it. He brought his daughters’ Girl Scout troop onstage midway through the show to sell cookies to celebs in the audience. And they made serious cash – Rock announced later that the girls made $65,243. That’s a lot of Thin Mints!

Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga took to Instagram to post a touching photo where she’s kissing fiancé Taylor Kinney. Her caption reads, “I never thought anyone would ever love me because I felt like my body was ruined by my abuser. But he loves the survivor in me.” Lady Gaga, who has been extremely vocal on the subject of sexual assault, performed a beautifully raw and emotional rendition of her nominated song, “Til It Happens To You.”

Kesha
A few moments after Lady Gaga’s powerful performance, Kesha posted a selfie to Instagram to thank both her and VP Joe Biden for their support and strong words at the Oscars. Biden received thunderous applause when he said, “Let’s change the culture so that no abused woman or man ever feels they have to ask themselves, ‘What did I do?’ They did nothing wrong.” Lady Gaga has been extremely outspoken in her support for Kesha, and we loved seeing this moment of friendship between the two singers.
