With all this talk about moving to Canada, we may have forgotten about all the gems right next door. Yesterday, U.S. News released an official ranking of the top 100 best metropolises to live in the United States, and the results might surprise you.

Each city is issued a score out of 10 on indexes like value, desirability, strength of the job market, quality of life, and net migration based on U.S. Census data. The location to top the list with an average score of 7.8 is Austin, Texas, which welcomes 50 new residents a day and has been touted the live music capital of the world. Next in line are Denver, Colorado; San Jose, California; Washington, D.C.; and Fayetteville, Arkansas.

What complicated the evaluation was that the researchers collected data in flat numbers, negative numbers, and percentages, so they standardized it before inserting it into equations (you remember learning about common denominators, right?).
