Best Scrunchies to Channel Lara Jean Covey from "To All the Boys I've Loved Before"

By now, you've probably read To All the Boys I've Loved Before. You've probably bawled your eyes out over the movie — maybe multiple times, if you had an industrious weekend! And you know by now that there are multiple love stories at work here: Between Lara Jean and Peter, between Lara Jean and Josh (sort of!), between Peter and Korean yogurt drinks. But few romances in To All the Boys are quite like Lara Jean and her scrunchie. Because that, my friends, is a love story with an ending so tragic, Shakespeare himself would be like, damn, that's cold.

You see, Lara Jean has a favorite scrunchie. She wears the favorite scrunchie to a party, one which she has been obligated to attend as an article in her "fake relationship" contract with Peter. Peter tells her to take the scrunchie out, that she looks pretty with her hair down. (She looks pretty regardless because hairstyles are personal and Lana Condor is Lana Condor, but just go with us here.) Peter confiscates her scrunchie, but his ex-girlfriend Gen steals it at the same party to mess with his mind and sow seeds of discord with Lara Jean, her ex-best friend. Gen later confronts Lara Jean about Peter, and oh, what's that? Casually pulls the scrunchie out of her hair and makes a point to tell her that Peter gave the scrunchie to her. That is a lie, of course. But RIP scrunchie, and boom, enter Lara Jean and Peter's biggest, almost-breakup fight. (Can you break up if you were only ever fake dating? Unclear.)

And look, we're not saying it's OK that Gen used a scrunchie as a weapon of war. It's also not OK that Peter didn't somehow get the scrunchie back in a gallant act of chivalry that would be fitting for the same dude who aptly pointed out that a not-even-real sex tape is nobody else's business anyway. But given that Lara Jean never did get her scrunchie back, we had to help her out.
