Blogger of the Moment: WishWishWish

Since it's impossible not to fall for a blogger who unabashedly embraces all things "twee," Carrie Harwood's blog WishWishWish is love at first click. The red lipstick-wearing, updo-obsessed beauty looks like she just stepped out of a vintage store—faded florals, sweet babydoll dresses, and bows galore.
Taking a cue from follow Brit Alexa Chung, who she has cited as one of her fashion icons, Carrie has a knack for balancing the sweet with the sassy. Think motorcycle jackets with floral sundresses and swingy circle skirts with boyish brogues. Forgoing of-the-moment trends that seem to pop up on every fashion blog, this girly girl at heart would never be spotted in leather leggings or punky platforms.
This fashion design student always stays true to her personal style, which she's been documenting since 2008. Though she insists she still doesn't know what she wants to be when she grows up, we're sure she'll find a career that's a perfect fit—just like her personal style.

Why did you initially decide to start a blog?
I'd always been online in some shape or form, and had owned websites before, so it seemed like a natural progression. Like a lot of other bloggers, I read blogs too and thought "why not?!" Initially I didn't plan for it to be fashion-based at all, more of a place to share things and practice my photography!

What is the story behind your blog's title?
It sounds a bit odd, but I liked the way it sounded when you said it and the way it looked written down. I assumed that I'd be talking about all my inspirations, hence the word "wish." It's also three wishes, which has those magical connotations!
If your blog had a mission statement, what would it be?
Embracing all things "twee" since 2008!

How would you describe your style?
Vintage-inspired, girly and full of brogues, bowler hats and collars. I dress like a five-year-old going to a birthday party.
Who are your favorite designers?
I'm a big Mulberry fan; they are so English and timeless! I'm also in love with lots of smaller designers, like Vivetta, a quirky designer from Milan who creates my dream dresses, and English Nadinoo, whose girly collections are always enchanting.

Who inspires your wardrobe and why?
Everything and everyone! Blogs, magazines, TV shows, films, you name it. I’m not too hot on celebrities, but I must say, I’m a fan of a certain Ms. Chung.
Where are your favorite places to shop?
I’m big online shopper! Most of my clothes were ordered online via shops like Asos.com. I’m particularly fond of the fact there are so many brands available on there, like TBA, one of my favorites! Other than that, you can’t beat a good rummage around in a vintage shop, and there are lots in London to pick from.

What are the best aspects of running your own blog? What are the hardest aspects?
The best part of blogging is most definitely the friends you make—I've met some brilliant people through blogging! And the positive comments that you receive are always such a mood-booster! I suppose the harder part would be finding the time to do it as often as you'd like, and the negativity that sometimes surrounds it.
Any advice for anyone who wants to start her/his own blog?
Don't start a blog because you think you're going to get go to all the parties and get free clothes—it's very transparent and people aren't attracted to that. Simply be yourself, original and exciting—write the blog that you'd love to read, and all those perks will follow.

What do you do when you're not blogging?
I try and balance blogging (it's more work than you think!) with university; I'm in London studying Fashion Promotion at the moment. Thankfully I'm off for summer, so I can spend time doing things I love, like exploring, charity shopping, going to the zoo, brushing up on my photography, and most importantly, eating!
