Sure, it's been an eventful year for celebrity hair color. But many of our favorite stars have also been taking the plunge into Major Chop territory, from long bobs to bobs to undercuts, prompting serious speculation as to whether "short hair don't care" really is a mantra worth living. After all, if Taylor Swift thinks so, shouldn't the rest of us?

Earlier this year, Demi shaved half her head, rocking the edgy undercut look favored by models and It girls alike. She paired it with bright pink locks, which have since been turned every other color imaginable.

Moments before the Met Gala, hair stylist David Stanwell chopped four inches off the Glee star’s hair. The cut was totally inspired by the star’s Miu Miu couture gown, which had a 1920’s Parisian flapper vibe.

A similar subtle cut was seen on Emma during her press tour for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Stylist Mara Roszak cut off a bit at the ends and even gave her a hint of ombré, which lent her an instantly edgier vibe.

We recently traced Kylie’s every beauty look, and were totally surprised to see how much she’s changed over the years. She started off 2014 with a fresh chop, which instantly separated her from each and every one of her long-haired sisters. Making it blue was the genius final touch.

Taylor got one inch closer to looking even more like BFF Karlie Kloss by ditching her long, blonde locks for the ubiquitous long bob. But if anyone can convince legions of girls that short hair is still gorgeous, it’s Taylor, isn’t it?

It’s actually pretty difficult to discern what’s her real hair and what’s a wig, but a bit of Instagram investigating confirmed that Katy Perry also joined the lob club. But, since she can’t just do what everyone else is doing, she dyed it all green. An interesting approach, but we do love a risk-taker.

First, K. Stew shocked the whole entire world when she dyed her hair orange. Then, just a few months later, she revealed an edgy long pixie cut, which only makes her cool-girl, alternative vibe more pronounced. (Plus, we’re totally glad she kept those fiery strands—the shade looks good on her!)

One of the most fascinating things about the long bob is that you can continue to experiment, snipping inch after inch before people notice. Such was the case with Lily, who showed up at the Chanel Couture show with the stealthiest haircut in Young Hollywood history. We noticed she took her crop to the next level, allowing the hair to frame her face for a chic Audrey Hepburn vibe. She looks gorgeous!
