15 Memorable Met Gala Fashion Moments

Unlike the Oscars or the Grammys, the Met Gala focuses primarily on fashion. Each year, the event is theme-based, and designers and celebrities pull out all the stops to arrive at the perfect interpretation. It’s kind of like a glorified 80s party but with celebrities and couture, which, as you might imagine, has made for some very memorable moments over the years.
This year’s theme, “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology,” is sure to give the concept of wearable tech a whole new meaning. In the meantime, let’s look back on the last five year’s most memorable looks.

In 2010, the theme was “American Woman, Fashioning a National Identity.” [Katy Perry] (http://www.teenvogue.com/tag/katy-perry) wore a dress by CuteCircuit that had LED lights sewn throughout the chiffon draping.

There is something about MIA’s Alexander Wang leather jumpsuit and gold crochet gown combo that had everyone talking in 2010. If you ask us, it was the perfect way to show off her alternative style while nailing the spirit of the gala.

Unlike Miley, Kendall Jenner isn’t exactly known for her rebellious ways. So in 2015, when she showed up on the red carpet wearing this slinky Calvin Klein Collection dress with daring side cut-outs everyone took notice.

Kim Kardashian’s love for high fashion became very apparent in 2013 when she showed off her baby bump in skin tight custom Givenchy gown. Though the dress garnered mixed reviews, Kim took it in stride and wore it again as a Halloween costume of herself, when she was pregnant with Saint two years later.
