There's no question about it: Football season has arrived. You can't flip through the channels without stumbling on a game (or highlights, recaps, or previews of games past and future). What could be more authentically autumn than a little pigskin? With that in mind, we've rounded up the best football flicks around, so if your hometeam's game isn't keeping your attention, you can still get in on the fun.

Rudy
There's no denying that Rudy is very much a football movie, but more than anything, it's a film about going to great lengths to make your dreams come true. In this case, the dream is to play college football, which is probably much different than your dream (not to say it can't be—if Rudy can do it, you can too!). Also? A very young, very adorable Vince Vaughn.

Varsity Blues
Remember when Paul Walker was the dreamiest guy in Hollywood? No? Then re-watch this 1999 football film that's less about sports and more about teen drama and college aspirations and broken hearts. And while you're having a James Van Der Beek moment, you might as well watch season three of Dawson's Creek—Dawson never plays football, but he does shoot a documentary about it (typical).

Friday Night Lights
If you haven't watched the entire TV series, you should do so immediately. And then, if you haven't watched the original movie that inspired the show (which was inspired by a Buzz Bissinger book—that's worth reading too), you should watch it stat. What, like you were going to do anything better this weekend?

Remember the Titans
There are lots of reasons that make this movie worth watching, but its cast—Kate Bosworth, Ryan Gosling, a really cute guy named Kip Pardue who’s sometimes on Mad Men, a very young Hayden Panettiere, and Denzel Washington in one if his Denzel-iest roles—that makes this a cult favorite.

We Are Marshall
The whole premise of this flick is sad—a football team is killed in a tragic plane crash, the surviving coach attempts to rebuild the program (and heartbroken community)—but it's actually a heartwarming movie. You'll cry, sure, but you'll smile, too. Oh, and the cast (Matthew McConaughey! Matthew Fox! Kate Mara! January Jones!) is a real winner.

Jerry Maguire
Directed by Cameron Crowe and nominated for loads of Oscars, Jerry Maguire is one of those movies that everyone should see. Tom Cruise plays the Ultimate Cool Guy (you know what we mean!) as a hot-shot sports agent whose life crashes and burns until he falls in love—and then it happens again, but everything ends in the way you want it to (again, you know what we mean!).

Little Giants
All you really need to know about Little Giants is that Now & Then-era Devon Sawa is in it, and he couldn't possibly be more adorable. He could, however, be nicer to the totally awesome football-playing little girl who has a huge crush on him. This flick will make you cheer for the underdog, so if your home team isn't doing so well this season, this'll make you feel better.

The Blind Side
If you want to watch a sports movie with a lot of heart—and maybe even a few tears—this sorta-biographical story based on the bestselling Michael Lewis book will make you laugh and cry and cheer. It’ll also make you want to befriend Lily Collins, because she’s super cool in this flick.
