Teen Vogue's Editors Test the Latest in Long-Lasting Lip Color__
For the lip color-obsessed, there's no greater annoyance than reapplying your favorite shade multiple times over—well, that and forgetting to keep a hair tie handy, but we digress…
With the latest in budge-proof formulas, your days of faded lip color are behind you. To prove it, our editors tested the longest-lasting lipsticks, glosses, and stains that will stay put through your special V-Day dinner (or dare we say, kiss), and beyond. Click through the slideshow above to meet the formulas we fell in love with.

The Product: Lipstick Queen Vesuvius in Vesuvian Red**
"I felt slightly trepidatious about ditching my go-to for some longwear lip lovin’ to try this Lipstick Queen tint. Thankfully, I happened to really like the shade as well as its consistency, which wasn’t as sticky as your usual liquid lipstick. The berry scent reminds me of my kindergarten markers—but who’s to say that’s a bad thing, right? #throwback."

The Product: Yves Saint Laurent Volupte Tint-in-Oil in No. 1 Drive Me Copper**
"The perfect fix for those days that you can’t quite pull off a bold lip color, this subtle tint goes on super smoothly. Though the red shade was faint, the shine did not—my lips felt hydrated for days after my original application. It is definitely a new favorite of mine!"

The Product: L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Last Color in Continual Crimson**
"I love the idea of stains, but every single one I’ve tried looks like I’ve smeared a marker across my lips. This one was double-sided, with a gloss that goes on first, finished by a balm to seal it in. The combo meant that my lips never felt dried out—I could always reapply the balm if need be! The color was crazy vibrant and stayed that bright for at least 18 hours. I had to scrub it off!"

The Product: Maybelline New York Superstay 14HR Lipstick in Continuous Cranberry**
"I’m selective when it comes to lipstick. The color, the texture, the formulation, the smell, the feel—it’s all gotta be just right. But once I find the one I’m into, you better believe I wear it every single day and hoard backups. As is the case with this beauty right here. (True story: I rocked the Timeless Crimson shade so hard, my friends staged an intervention, forcing me to move on.) As part of this experiment I grudgingly adopted Eternal Rose, a lighter, springier shade but still in the formula I’ve loved for years. It’s that perfect ’90s-vibe-matte (#TBT Jennifer Lopez in Selena) but with a creamy, moisture-rich feel that shows Juno 2015 what’s up. You can put it on in the morning and completely forget about it until lunch. Even without touching up, it leaves a pretty stain until the end of the work day."

The Product: Giorgio Armani Rouge Ecstasy Lipstick in Teatro**
"While I’d like to lay claim to Burberry’s Bright Poppy as my signature shade, Giorgio Armani’s Rouge Ecstasy comes in at a close second. Don’t be deterred by the classic Crayola-red tube. This lipstick is a rich, long-lasting burgundy hue (so not the color of a crayon), and perfect for winter. My favorite part aside from the long-wear formula? The moisturizing factor! I eoliated my lips in the morning, applied a generous coat of lipstick, and headed out the door. One quick touch-up after lunch and I was set for the rest of the day."

**The Editor: Gina Lee, director of product
The Product: Lancôme Lip Lover in Orange Manege**
"This gloss stays on for hours and keeps my lips moisturized (even between the toasty Teen Vogue office and the frigid, windy NYC streets). The color is a bit bolder than I would normally feel comfortable wearing, but I was pleasantly-surprised to see that the pink brightens my olive skin tone and complements my usual uniform of dark clothes. I love the flat applicator, too! It spreads the gloss on more evenly than I’ve ever experienced."

The Product: Topshop Velvet Lips in Velveteen Ribbon**
"I love a statement matte lip that works for any occasion but in keeping with my resolution to try new things, I decided to test Topshop’s latest lip tint. The pros? Bold, saturated color, an uber matte finish, and it stays—really—stays on. My only concern? Hours after the tint dried, my lips looked like they were in need of a little dose of moisture. Thank goodness for Rosebud Salve!"

**The Editor: Chantal Strasburger, editorial assistant
The Product: Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Melted Ruby**
"The strength of this lipstick was not about how long it stayed on, but how evenly it faded. Most stains disappear from the inside, out leaving that ’90s lip liner look, which is not exactly ideal (even though the ’90s are having a comeback), but this product faded out smoothly and lasted through about five cups of tea before I had to reapply. My one tip for all stay-put lipstick-wearers? Try a good sugar scrub. It’s vital for prepping the lips pre-application and then getting it all off when the party’s over."

The Product: Revlon ColorStay Moisture Stain in Shanghai Sizzle**
"I consider myself a swipe-and-go tinted lip balm kinda girl, so applying this ultra glossy formula was a bit tricky for a lip color rookie like me. After I finally managed to get it on, it dried to a vibrant poppy red stain that didn’t feel heavy and lasted for hours at a time. I definitely had to reapply after lunch but hey, a girl’s gotta eat!"

The Product: Chanel Rouge Allure Gloss in Pirate**
"I love a nice pop of color on my lips but I hate the aftermath—knowing it’s going to get all over everything I drink, and wear off the second I have something to eat. I typically steer clear of glosses for that reason (plus the fact that my long hair loves getting stuck to my lips!), but this time around I had some luck. Chanel’s Rouge Allure Gloss lasted throughout my jam-packed commute in the subway, my morning vanilla chai latte, and lunch. I did have to reapply later in the afternoon, but as it wore off, my lips stayed moisturized and weren’t even a little bit flaky. Score!"

The Product: CoverGirl Colorlicious in Seduce Scarlet**
"As a self-proclaimed lipstick connoisseur, I know that it doesn’t take a pricey tube to deliver long-lasting boldness. This super affordable CoverGirl lipstick went on silky-smooth, lasted through two cups of coffee and lunch—impressive! I love the rich red color and that my lips felt moisturized, not dry or cakey like some lipsticks can feel. With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, this will definitely be what I reach for!"

**The Editor: Joanna Citrinbaum Zerlin, copy chief
The Product: Shiseido Veiled Rouge lipstick in Mischief**
"I usually wear lip gloss—in other words, I’m used to reapplying. So I was excited to try the new Shiseido lipstick. It went on smoothly, and my lips felt hydrated. A word of warning, though: The color may be long lasting, but it isn’t budgeproof—it continued to transfer over to my coffee cup long after I put it on!"

The Product: Burberry Lip Velvet in Military Red**
"Applied velvety smooth, this lipstick definitely lived up to its name. The color had more magenta undertones than expected, but I was pleasantly-surprised at the long wear…and the number of compliments I received. Did I mention the tube has a magnetic closure? A+ in my book!"
