All You Need Is Love: Editors' Favorite Valentine's Day Movie Picks
- 1/8
Singin' in the Rain
Possibly my favorite movie of all time. It doesn't really have anything to do with Valentine's Day per se... But it's pure happiness!
The Notebook
I'm tearing up just thinking about this movie. Ryan Gosling! Rachel McAdams! The scene where he's dangling from the ferris wheel! Enough said.

Black Swan
My favorite movie of the year, and it will definitely send you (screaming) into the arms of your significant other!
Pretty Woman
I've seen this film a million times, but I never tire of it. Julia Roberts at her best! It's a modern classic.
Rosemary's Baby
Watching love stories gets old fast. To counteract all the gushy romance, I would suggest this iconic horror film (and my all-time favorite movie). It will make you grateful for the boyfriend you have, or, if you're single, the one you don't!! I can't think of any boyfriend or husband as horribly bad, selfish, and evil as Guy Woodhouse!

Overboard
Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn are the most romantic couple. Also they're not married, and I dig that.
The Princess Bride
"As you wish."
The Proposal
I watched this movie on 5 different flights before I even saw it once on a regular sized screen, and it still cracks me up. Sandra Bullock + Ryan Reynolds + Betty White = I laughed, I cried (seriously, I did).
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Brilliant, weird, romantic. This is the film that made me love Kate Winslet.

_Romeo & Juliet _
Need I provide an explanation? This adaptation of the Shakespeare classic, with Claire Danes and Leonardo DiCaprio as the most notorious star-crossed lovers of all time, was simply beautiful. The fish-tank scene still makes me tear up every time.
_Going the Distance _
Not just another cheesy rom-com with cringe-worthy dialogue, this movie featured some hilarious one-line zingers and an awesome, all-star cast. It's a great pick-me-up to inspire (or at least entertain) long-distance couples of all walks.
Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist
OK, so this may be partially because Michael Cera is my dream boyfriend...but that aside, I loved this because it captured the sweetness, excitement, drama, and spitefulness of high school romances--all to an awesome soundtrack.
