Rihanna has conquered makeup, lingerie, and now she’s coming for our closets. The musician and business mogul has finally unveiled her new namesake luxury clothing line, Fenty, and yes, we have photos. Are you so ready to witness Rihanna’s next domination? In Paris, the music and style star hosted her first viewing for fashion editors, reports the New York Times. Rihanna described her design inspirations as coming from the places she’s lived and spent formative time. Places like her native Barbados, of course, but also London, where she’s been living for the past year. And that inspiration shows in her clothing — there are sharp, tailored lines that remind us of the stylish folks we’ve seen strolling down Savile Row. Rihanna is also a fan of exaggerated silhouettes, and brought that into Fenty with serious rounded shoulders and power suits that mean business.

Her pride is evident. As the first black woman designer for LVMH (the umbrella company that owns several luxury fashion houses) Rihanna named this collection 5-19, for the month and year of its release. “I feel very grateful and lucky and blessed to be in this position,” she said, adding that she’s thrilled to have “the opportunity to create something from scratch.”

Rihanna also adores the technical aspects of the design process. In a press video, she says that she loves “to play with different textures and fabrics and colors and cuts,” and describes atelier life as “meticulous” and “hands on.” We definitely see the results of her care in the details of the clothes. Rihanna used dark, sturdy Japanese denim for the denim pieces that include caped jeans, a fitted mini skirt with yellow contrast stitching, and an oversized denim jacket-dress with cargo pockets, which is our pick for the collection’s standout piece.

Like her lingerie line, Savage x Fenty, Rihanna talks about her clothes as a form of power for women. “It’s about creating a style for women that makes them feel strong yet beautiful,” she told the Times. We should note that Fenty’s size range goes up to a US size 14, which isn’t as inclusive as her lingerie line, with some styles available in a 3XL. According to Racked, 68% of American women wear a size 14 and above, so we’re hoping Fenty will be available in a greater size run in the near future.

Rihanna is even upending the tradition fashion week calendar. She’s making her collections shoppable within a few weeks of its announcement, and going forward, you can expect collection drops on a casual basis.
