12 Charitable Purchases That Give Back to Women's Rights Organizations
International Women’s Day celebrates the fight for women’s rights, honored annually on March 8 (reports of the day’s inception date all the way back to 1909!) While statements like #MeToo on this year’s red carpets might have resulted in celebrities wearing all black to make a statement that women should be seen as much more than just what they wear, that hasn’t stopped fashion brands from using their platforms to give back. So, since you’re going to go shopping anyway, why not make a purchase (or two—or three…) that doesn’t only look good, but also makes you feel good as well? From T-Shirts and hoodies to pouches and totes, here are all the fashion brands who have created limited edition pieces that give back to female-centric charities in honor of this year’s International Women’s Day.

FEED has launched a collection of four canvas tote bags that all read “Woman On A Mission” in various fonts and colors. The four bags are in collaboration with four strong women—Cleo Wade, Ulla Johnson, Arianna Huffington, and Julia Turshen—and reflect each one’s unique style. In keeping with the brand’s mantra, the bag will provide 10 school meals to children in need, but will also donate $1 proceed per bag to FoodLab Detroit (Julia), The Women’s Prison Association (Cleo), Every Mother Counts (Ulla), and Thrive Foundation (Arianna).

Sisters and designers Alison (of Alison Lou) and Liana Chemla (of Liana) have joined forces to create a T-shirt in celebration of International Women’s Day. 100% of sales will be donated towards Planned Parenthood. The yellow tee features a pink print that reads “Girl” across the chest, with the female symbol in place of the “I.” In addition, Alison will be selling a trio of jewelry items that feature a bright pink female symbol and can be purchased on her website.

Designer Andrea Lieberman of A.L.C. has partnered with fitness giant SoulCycle to bring women an athleisure tank that will allow all wearers to look as empowered as they already feel. Sold in-studio and online, 100% of all proceeds from the sale of each top will go towards StepUp, which is a charity that helps under-resourced girls navigate the college and career systems to realize their own dreams and go on to help others do the same.

Missguided has designed a four-piece capsule collection (by their all-female in-house design team, no less!) that includes three T-shirts and a hoodie. They will all support the non-profit organization, Girls Out Loud.
