The Coolest Runway Girl Gang Moments From Fashion Month
Same same, but different found a new meaning on the runways this spring/summer 2020 fashion month with designers from New York to Paris making clothes that are meant to be worn together. Similar iterations (slight tweaks, different colorways, etc.) of the same garments are making their way down the runways in pairings of three or more. Perhaps it's the Charlie's Angels remake or recent Sailor Moon revival that has ultra-cool coordinated girl gangs on designers' minds. Every member has their own unique personality and contribution to the group, but it's clear that there's strength in numbers and uniting to work together against a common cause is key (fighting evil by moonlight and defeating Mojo Jojo).
Balmain's latest collection, which debuted yesterday, had four models wearing cool sunglasses and colorful jackets reminiscent of a well-curated Crayola box. Issey Miyake's performance-slash-runway show had brushstroke-clad models in groups of five. And Anrealage redefined schoolyard cliques with a polo-wearing, khaki crew. It's a thoughtful new way to show designs that are meant to echo and play off of each other.

A lot was happening at the Issey Miyake show: girls opted for skateboards instead of heels and there was twirling, dancing, and bouncing around to demonstrate the movement of the pieces. The squad goals run deep here with head-to-toe brushstroke khaki pieces and a minimal all-black set.
