The Best of FIT's Future of Fashion Runway Show

Fact: if brands aren't innovating today, they simply aren't cutting it. The speed of the digital landscape and social media's effect on fashion have led some of the world's biggest houses to lean harder than ever on technology, as well as global solutions that please their customers from New York City to Nairobi.

So it's no surprise that some of the most groundbreaking designs are coming from fashion design students. It's why buyers, editors, and stylists make a point of attending the graduation shows of many a design school around the globe, to see what each year's new group of talents has in store with their graduating collections.

The Fashion Institute of Technology is one such school that industry insiders across continents look to for what's coming next. And at this month's Future of Fashion Show, it was pretty evident that the students who displayed their wares are going to be setting trends and working for some of the most impactful brands in years to come. 77 looks were featured on the catwalk across the specializations of special occasion, intimate apparel, sportswear, knitwear, and children's wear. The student designers were mentored by some of the fashion world's household names throughout the Spring semester: Zac Posen, Yigal Azrouël, and Josie Cruz Natori among them.
