**Why did you decide to create the Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein line for Macy's? **
As a Brazilian, I was excited to participate in this special program created by Macy's to celebrate my native country and its culture. Also, I have always been interested in designing a more accessible, affordable line that could reach a much broader customer base.

**What was the inspiration behind the designs? What was your starting point? **
I was inspired by the clean lines and shapes of Brazilian modern architecture. Drawing from these spaces and structures, the dresses all possess a very fresh and contemporary, yet timeless appeal.

**What inspired the color palette? **
Taking cues from both Brazil's natural environment and its architectural works, the palette combines warm, organic hues, like clay, guava and cocoa, with cooler, urban colors such as marble, cement and iron.

**How did your Brazilian background influence the colors and style of the line? **
When people think of Brazil, they tend to envision a lot of vibrant color and festive celebrations, like Carnival. But the small town I grew up in, Minas Gerais, values a more natural, organic and monochromatic aesthetic which is evident in my designs.

**What signature details of the house can be seen in the line? **
Staying true to the house, the dresses are minimalistic and feature subtle, yet precise details, such as elegant gathering and feminine necklines. A delicate elastic belt with a thin silver colored clasp is another modern element used throughout the line that speaks to the aesthetic details of the house.

**What was the biggest challenge in creating this line? **
The biggest challenge was figuring out how to produce these dresses at such accessible price points without compromising on design. To do this, I had to source the best available fabrics and materials to achieve the cuts and detailing that I wanted to put into each piece.
