Fashion Blogger Photo Shoot Diaries: Georgia May Jagger
You've seen the finished feature, but what happens behind-the-scenes is a whole other story! For my inaugural Photo Shoot Diaries feature, I snapped candids of Georgia May Jagger and the crew at her Teen Vogue photo shoot. Here's the scoop.

Georgia did her homework before the shoot, and showed up with a duffel bag packed with a few of her favorite dresses, one being this vintage Ossie Clark number. "It's mine," she clarified, when asked if it was a hand-me-down from her mother. "I think my mom missed Ossie Clark because it's English and kind of came and went before she moved to London. It's more my dad's generation," she said, laughing. As to why it's her favorite, nineteen-year-old Georgia explained: "When I wear it to my boyfriend's gigs in L.A., I always get in. It's my lucky dress!"

This leopard print Mugler was a hand-me-down from Georgia's mom Jerry Hall, and dates back to the early 1980s. "I've loved leopard ever since I was a child," Georgia told me. "When I was 11, I had a leopard-print bathing suit that I was obsessed with—I think because my mother had a similar one. My mom is definitely my style icon."

For her first shot, Georgia wore her GMJ for Hudson Jeans grey skinnies and sipped on earl grey tea (a true Brit!). "I'm learning so much" she said about her new role as a designer. "All the different techniques of stone washing and sand blasting. It's extremely exciting. I can't wait for the jeans to come out, and for people to start buying them!" The nineteen-year-old also reminisced about her first . "It was my first photo shoot ever. They asked me to smile and jump, and of course that's the shot they used. So as long as I don't have to smile or jump today, we're good!" she joked.

I love this shot of Corey bundled up in the Union Jack flag, which was one of the props. The "styling" sort of makes him look like a homeless person, but I swear he's not! By the end of a shoot, the cast and crew almost feel like family. If the chemistry between everyone is good, it makes a world of difference!

We took a quick taxi ride to Washington Square Park for this shot. As you can see, Georgia attracted quite a crowd! She was a good sport, posing in sandals in 30 degree weather! When I asked her about the comparisons between her and blonde bombshell Brigitte Bardot, she told me: "It's very flattering and lovely that people say that. She's beautiful. I don't really see it. But if other people do," she added, laughing, "that's a huge compliment!"

We found this dog walking through the park, and the owner was nice enough to let us "borrow" him. Unfortunately, his modeling skills we not up to par with Georgia's! Try as we did to get him to face the camera, his only concern seemed to be squirrel scouting in the park!! He was very sweet, but I don't think he has a future in modeling.

Matt is going to kill me for posting this picture, but I love it. It's so rare to see a photographer who still shoots with film. Georgia, who moved to New York City to study photography, immediately bonded with him over it. "I think digital photography loses it's magic in a way," she told me. "People don't realize that film actually evens out the skin. It's softer. A high resolution digital photo picks up every detail, which isn't always a good thing!" Georgia's own camera of choice is a Pentax 35 millimeter. She even develops her own film. "I'm not really a fashion-y kind of photographer," she said. "I like landscapes, portraiture, and distorted kinds of things, and I prefer black and white film." She was recently commissioned to shoot a self-portrait for the English magazine i-D.

This was our last shot of the day, and Georgia couldn't resist working a little leopard into her look. She was also obsessed with these Chanel over-the-knee boots. I met up with her again a few weeks later at Tea & Sympathy, and she was still talking about them: "I'm still gagging for the boots I wore on the Teen Vogue shoot." Perhaps Chanel will take the hint, and send her a pair...

Georgia grew up in England and her father Mick Jagger is British through and through, but she told me she's equally proud of her mother's Texan roots. "We used to have a ranch in Mesquite, Texas. We would spend the summers there. We had cattle and everything. I think because of my mom's Texan background, I really like tassels and suede jackets," she laughed. Georgia's own accent is 100% British, but she can do a surprisingly good Texas one. "My mom still has hers," she said. "Even when she's talking in an English voice, you can hear it. She just rolls things out, which is very Southern, and she'll say things like
