1/11Ugh, mornings, am I right? It’s so hard to get out of bed, and when you finally do, you’re stuck with too much to do and way too little time. But while the rest of us are SnapChatting and hitting snooze, our successful counterparts are catching up on emails, exercising, and, apparently, doing a lot of moisturizing.
Since we’re already waking up an hour earlier these days (thanks, Daylight Savings Time), why not make the most of it? We asked nine of the most inspirational women we know for a glimpse inside their morning routines – and they were just as motivating as you might think. Read ahead for their best wake up tricks (a Rihanna alarm), favorite face washes (Sunday Riley), and breakfasts of champions (pressed juice, of course) — and prepare to become a morning person. You can do this; we believe in you.

“When I wake up, I lure myself out of bed with coffee and a shower. Every day is different. Sometimes I have time to relax in the morning, and sometimes I step right out the door in a dramatic rush. I use Ceramic Slip Clay Cleanser by Sunday Riley as my face wash and whatever creams and serums I can get my hands on. As a manicurist, people expect my nails to be perfect, long, and shiny, so I have a medium grit file around at all times to maintain them. I'll apply a clear coat of Sally Hansen Complete Care 7-in-1 Nail Treatment to look polished and keep my nails feeling strong, then I rush out the door and usually remember that I forgot something.”

“Every morning for me starts with a liter of water. I am moisturizer obsessed, so post-shower sees me using coconut oil for my body and a variety of organic moisturizers or African potions on my face. A walk across the Brooklyn Bridge to my office in the sunshine makes my morning complete!”

“The first thing I do in the morning is scrape my tongue before brushing my teeth — sounds gross, but it's an Ayurvedic practice I read about a while ago which is supposed to be good for your oral/physical/mental health, and I now I can't start my day without doing it. After that, I try to chug back a large glass of warm water with lemon before 20 minutes of yoga in my room (some days!) and a quick shower. Post-shower, I wash my face with Glossier Milky Jelly, spritz with Heritage Store's Rosewater & Glycerin spray, and moisturize with a dab of Embroyolisse, followed by a high factor SPF. Makeup is a high-low combination of NARS, NYX, Maybelline and Milani products, and perfume is by Frédéric Malle. My hair is usually totally overlooked, but I'll run some Moroccanoil through it before I run out the door. Bam!”

"I wake up around 7:00 a.m. and make hot water with lemon. When there's time, I meditate for 10 minutes or check out anything that's been posted under #glossier on Instagram. I get ready fairly quickly; usually wash with Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser followed by Priming Moisturizer & Perfecting Skin Tint. Finally, I put on a bit of Benefit Hoola Bronzer and Glossier Boy Brow on then head to Maman for an almond milk matcha latte before my final stop — our offices in Soho."

"In the morning, I head to a yoga class. It helps get my day going by reviving me and getting me into a positive mind set. I’m not a big breakfast eater, so I’ll have a pressed juice while checking my emails. My beauty routine is pretty minimal. I wash my face with a bar of rose soap that I picked up from my trip to Morocco and use Tea Tree Oil from Desert Essence to maintain my oily skin. I’ll use Alba Botanica Astringent as a toner to remove excess dirt and oil. My makeup is also minimal, mostly because I’m running around all day, and I want to keep my face fresh. My go-tos are Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Foundation Pressed Powder, Rodin Lip Balm, and Chloe perfume."

“I rise and shine at 7:00 a.m. — but I hit the snooze button once or twice. My alarm is currently set to the track “BBHMM” by Rihanna so that hustle mindset really sets in fast! I roll out of bed, listen to the NPR Radio News podcast (I’m a geek with my podcasts) on my Sonos, and make my bed. Then, I turn the coffee on, and feed my dog, Ruby (@badgallruru). She likes her food garnished — spoiled. I pop Eggos in the toaster, take fish oil vitamins with my coffee, and once Ruby and I are both done eating, we head out for our morning adventure. I scoop the newspaper delivery (WSJ and NYT) on our way outside and skim them quickly while she chases squirrels. When we get home, I hop in the shower, use my Bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Foaming Facial, and always do conditioner — I literally swear by the magic that is WEN, sweet almond mint only though. Post shower, it's all about moisturizing. I'm the kind of person who does baby oil all over before even getting a towel. Then I apply lotion, then more oil because that's just how I roll, then I use Lady Primrose talc to lock it in.”

"I wake up early with the rising sun and have a morning ritual that keeps me happy and connected to my dreams. I make a cup of tea, do a 15 minute meditation, and then write in my morning pages journal for 15min. I truly believe these two things are the keys to my success. My two daughters wake up and we all put Argan Oil on our face and hair, and body butter all over our bodies. “I wake up and immediately check emails and social media for all Hudson BLVD Group accounts — then I make my first cup of coffee. I watch some news, let coffee #2 kick in, and hit my closest Flywheel based on where I am working. Then I get a blowout (or a braid, if I’m crunched for time) at a nearby DreamDry and apply my makeup in the DreamDry VIP room. “Every morning, I wake up and drink a bottle of water to start off my day with a boost of hydration! I jump in the shower, then moisturize my rough spots (elbows, knees, heels) and within 5 minutes of stepping out, use my favorite Rose & Jasmine Body Oil from The Organic Pharmacy. (You have a 5 minute window to trap in moisture and prevent callouses.) I mix a few drops of an antioxidant, like Dr. Brandt’s new Power Dose Vitamin C, into my moisturizer with sunscreen and lather onto my face, neck and décolletage every morning. Sunscreen filters only protect against 55% of free radicals, so I make sure to use antioxidants to mop up/neutralize the rest of the free radical damage. Then, I apply a little Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation — it’s hydrating, and the lightweight texture means it won’t clog my pores. It doesn’t feel like a foundation, because it’s so silky, but it still gives me the coverage that I need. I start every day with one coffee and then one cup of green tea, because caffeine fights skin cancer while antioxidants in green tea provide more anti-aging protection. Finally, I swipe my favorite Colorescience Lip Polish onto my lips, and off to work I go!”
