Beauty Blogger Of The Moment: Glass Slipper Beauty
Allie Evans is just a typical 15-year-old girl living in a small West Coast town—with one very significant difference. Her popular video blog, Glass Slipper Beauty, is a destination for thousands of girls seeking beauty advice every single day. What began as an outlet after her family relocated across the country has quickly turned into an online beauty fixture, with more than 55,000 girls following her every move.
Set in her humble bedroom in SoCal, Allie's vlogs are helpful, playful, and endearingly personal. She lights up on camera, and viewers stick around as much for her makeup secrets as they do for her high school musings. Aside from her wise-beyond-her-years expertise, this Canadian native makes sure to remind viewers that she is, after all, just a normal teenage girl—she loves spending time with her friends, shopping, and lounging at the beach.
What's not so normal is that her vlog's "Dare to Be Different" motto inspires hundreds of thousands of fans every single day. Take a cue from Allie and be yourself—with a swipe or two of hot pink lipgloss.

Why did you initially decide to start a blog?
I initially started my beauty channel because I was new to my school and felt like I didn't really fit in, but in the Youtube beauty community I could network with hundreds of girls that all loved the same things as me.

** What is the story behind your blog’s title? **
I actually came up with the username Glass Slipper Beauty late one night and thought it sounded cute and creative. I actually get so many people saying they love it, but if I could, I would go back and change it to something a little more professional!
** If your vlog had a mission statement, what would it be? **
"Dare to be different!" This is actually something I live my life by. It is so easy, especially in Orange County, to become cookie-cutter like everyone else out there, but I have learned to embrace who I am and I really hope all my viewers do, too.

How would you describe your style?
My style constantly changes I went through a huge phase were I loved preppy clothes. I looked like I had walked off the set of Gossip Girl, but my style has become very effortless and bohemian I love to mix and match vintage pieces as well.
Where are your favorite places to shop?
I love places like Urban Outfitters and Forever 21, but I am a huge fan of thrift shops like Buffalo Exchange.

What do you do when you’re not vlogging?
I think some people forget that I am just like any other teenage girl out there, so most of my free time is spent with my friends. I love cooking and, in the summer time, I pretty much live at the beach.
What are your personal favorite blogs and vlogs? Why?
I love watching videos from other gurus and I am actually a huge fan of my friend lookbook.nu; the fashion on the site is just to die for.

Are there any trends you're particularly inspired by this season?
I am very into pastel and neutral colors so the bright colors of summer are really out of my comfort zone, but I am loving all the bright orange lips I am seeing along with the over sized hats and dark denim pieces.
What trend from the past would like to make a comeback?
I am actually a huge fan of the '50s so anything from that era I would love to see on the fashion seen soon.

What are the best aspects of running your own blog? What are the hardest aspects?
The best part of running my blog on my own is having so much creative freedom to do whatever I want. Of course I want to please my viewers, but at the end of the day, I have all the control over what I put up. The hardest part is dealing with the hate. I have learned that no matter what you do at least 2% of people out there will disagree with what you are doing and it is usually that 2% that is the most outspoken. Learning to deal with over 55,000 people constantly watching what I do at such a young age has not been easy.

What's yor makeup inspiration?
I think some of the work Mario Dedivanovic has done is amazing; he has done so many beautiful and sultry looks. I would love for him to do my makeup some day.
**What's your favorite color to use, makeup wise? **
I love a good brown smokey eye, but my favorite thing to play around with is hot pink lips.

Do you prefer drugstore or high end makeup brands?
I think it really is worth it to spend a little more on high-end makeup. There are, however, some really amazing drugstore brands out there.
If you had a thousand dollars to spend on makeup, what would you buy?
I am obsessed with blushes! I probably have about 40 different ones and I think the first thing I would buy is more blush.
What beauty product can you not live without?
My Benefit Erase Paste! I constantly am up late doing work and, being a high school student, I rarely get enough sleep as it is. Being able to brighten up my face and cover my dark circles is a must for me.

**What's in your travel beauty bag? **
I don't carry any makeup in my purse other than a pressed powder and lip balm, but if I go on a trip, I will usually pack an eye shadow quad along with all my face makeup, one or two blushes, and lip glosses.
What's your most memorable makeup faux pas?
When is was 13, I started to try out some eye shadow looks and I remember putting jet-black eye shadow all over of the lid of my eye. Looking back on it now I am just like, "What were you thinking?"

What type of camera do you use?
I use Sony Handycam HDR-XR350V. I love the quality and it takes great pictures as well.
Any advice for anyone who wants to start her/his own vlog?
Put your heart into it and don't be too serious about it. Making videos is supposed to be fun, so as long as you go in there with an open mind, you will do great!
