Charles Melton, Olivia Rodrigo & More Bring Timeless Glamour to Governors Awards 2024 — See Photos
Folks, rejoice because we've been blessed with Charles Melton's cheekbones on a red carpet once again. We're deep into awards season now, and the gowns and glamour just don’t quit. The latest addition: the Governors Awards 2024, an event presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (i.e., the folks who do the Oscars).
You can think of the Governor’s Awards almost like a precursor to the Oscars; this year, Angela Bassett and Mel Brooks received honorary Oscars for their work, and since the Oscar nominations aren’t out yet, stars can campaign for a chance to receive one of those coveted noms.
The fashion was slightly less fabulous and flamboyant than the Golden Globes, but intriguing nonetheless. Black, red, and pink were the dominating tones of the night; Margot Robbie deviated from her Barbie wardrobe with a black column gown with cutouts and sparkly straps, while Emma Stone and Florence Pugh picked up the pink in shimmering dresses. Olivia Rodrigo looked like Audrey Hepburn reincarnated (once again) in her strapless black gown, red lipstick, and updo, while Ayo Edebiri, who wore a red Prada gown at the Golden Globes, opted for a buttery pale yellow dress with a super subtle mermaid hem.
The guys brought their A-game, too, with Zac Efron putting his twist on the pop of red trend in a black suit with a red sweater layered underneath and Charles Melton in textural black-on-black. Saltburn star Barry Keoghan brought the ‘70s throwback vibes in high-waisted, wide-leg tuxedo pants with a ruffled shirt.
