H&M Announces Latest Collaboration With Giambattista Valli

Giambattista Valli’s fluffy gowns have always been the the epitome of princess dreams, but his dresses can cost as much as a house. As beautiful as they are, it’s safe to say that a Giambattista Valli gown is out of reach for most us, until now. The newest high fashion-fast fashion collaboration has just been announced: Giambattista Valli x H&M is coming, and much sooner than you may think. That’s right, you can shop the collection starting tomorrow, May 25, on H&M’s website and in select stores. Let’s take a look at the details.

The collection made its official debut yesterday at the amFAR Gala in Cannes when Kendall Jenner, Chiara Ferragni, Chris Lee, and H.E.R hit the red carpet all wearing pieces from the line, which includes gowns, accessories, and a first for Giambattista Valli, menswear. There are five dresses in various shades of pink, and even a white gown fit for a bride. The menswear offering includes a two-piece suit, tailored white tops, a tank top with a pearl neckline, and suiting shorts (!). We also stan the princess-like accessories, including headbands and necklaces adorned with rhinestones and bows, and two pairs of shoes. Prices will range from €14,99 (about $16 USD) for a pair of tulle socks, to €499 (about $560 USD) for the white gown.

“I am excited about this collaboration,” said Giambattista in a press released from H&M. “H&M gives me the opportunity to bring my vision of style and my celebration of beauty to a wider audience. The goal is to share my love for beauty and to be able to be part of everyone’s ‘happy moments’, to help create love stories all around the world.” Though the collection is certainly more expensive than regular H&M prices, it is still far more accessible than anything from Giambattista Valli’s main and couture lines, and Giamba, his contemporary ready-to-wear line (which is still at luxury prices).

And while we love a dramatic gown moment, we can’t help but wonder if this collection is arriving a little too late since fluffy dresses have been trending for some time now, as seen on the red carpet earlier this year with Lady Gaga’s periwinkle Valentino look at the Golden Globes in addition to Kacy Musgraves and Gemma Chan’s voluminous pink frocks at the Oscars. Our majesty Rihanna even wore a similar green dress by Molly Goddard to go to Starbucks in 2016.

Still, if you miss out an anything from this collection, or are bummed that the drop is too late for prom, don’t fret. H&M says that this is a pre-collection, and that a full Giambattista Valli x H&M line will be released this November — just in time for fall dances and holiday looks.
