Harry Potter's Birthday Fashion Illustrations: See the Photos
July 31st is one of the most magical days of the year. It marks the date that Harry Potter, AKA the Boy Who Lived, AKA every millennial’s childhood crush and/or hero was born. While we begrudgingly acknowledge that the wizard is only a fictional character, we think it’s important to celebrate his special day, if only to pay homage to the lifelong lessons and immense joy he imparted on everyone who reads his story. What better way to do so, then, by throwing him a fictional bash? There would be treacle tart aplenty and butterbeer abound, with a live performance by the Weird Sisters to really get the party started. The most important part, of course, would be the guest list, which would include the long list of comrades Harry has made over the years. We took the liberty of outfitting the most important attendees — including Ron, Hermione, Ginny, and Luna—for the occasion by selecting Teen Vogue-approved looks that represent each of their styles. Harry is usually all about practicality but still enjoys a good crisp dress robe for special occasions. For his own birthday bash, he’d go for something in the middle of the two extremes: smart and stylish but not too over-the-top. A pair of heavily-rimmed specs to keep up with the current trends and a simple zip-up jacket in a daring shade reminiscent of the golden snitch would do the trick. Subdued yet cool equals party perfection.

Light jackets are Ginny’s thing, so it’s only appropriate she would wear a cool, military-inspired version over a vintage frock to her beau’s birthday. Remember the dress robes Ron wore to the Yule Ball in the Goblet of Fire? In case you need a refresher, the lace and frill-covered garments were antiquated in style, having been bought from a secondhand shop, much to Ron’s chagrin. This time around, we think Weasley would do vintage a little better in a '70s-inspired suit that’s reminiscent of last season's Gucci. Retro is in, meaning that for once, Ron is on-trend.
