'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' Sells 2 Million Copies in 2 Days
Whoever said people don't read anymore forgot that a new Harry Potter book just came out. According to a statement released by Scholastic this morning, the published script of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child sold over 2 million copies during its first two days in bookstores. While Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows sold 8.3 million copies in its first 24 hours back in 2007, it’s generally considered “sensational” if your average book sells 25,000 copies over its entire shelf life — some bestsellers don’t even crack 150,000 copies these days. Cursed Child has seen unprecedented sales for a script and phenomenal sales for a book of any kind, but two million copies is a lot of anything, and it’s a benchmark most haven’t passed, let alone in two days.

2/8And Taylor Swift’s 1989, which had the largest first sales week since 2002, sold 1.287 million copies.
4/8Kylie Jenner’s lifestyle app has been downloaded 1.75 million times, while Kim Kardashian’s clocks in at 477,000.
5/8And Zayn's Mind of Mine debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 chart, with 157,000 albums sold during its first week.
6/8Donald Trump’s ghost-written book The Art of the Deal, which he claims is the best-selling business book of all time, sold a mere 177,000 copies total.
8/8All kidding aside, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’s sales are seriously impressive.
Maybe they’ll make J.K. Rowling reconsider writing another Potter book? That, or all the Potter fans in the world should get together and solve the world’s problems. It’s been five years since the last Potter film, but the Wizarding World’s clearly still got us hooked, even “after all this time.”
