2/8Teen Vogue x Parsons
Teen Vogue and Parsons have teamed up to create an online fashion education program that helps students launch a career in the fashion industry. The course lasts for 10 weeks (but students can go at their own pace throughout one year) and graduates receive a certificate directly from Parsons proving completion of the program. It includes 5 courses, 20 instructors and 70 videos. The coursework covers everything from visual style to media and production, and each course was carefully cultivated by Parsons’ elite team and our staff of editors at Teen Vogue. Not only is this course a major resume booster, but it also offers insight into exactly what it takes to make it in this competitive field. The course is 42 hours of online instruction and self-study, complete with visual assignments and some very special video lessons recorded at Teen Vogue HQ. Students have a full year to complete the program so they can pace themselves over 12 months.
The curriculum is 100% online so you can fit studying into your life and your schedule.
Tuition: $549 for the full online program, students may select one of a few monthly payment plans.

Learn what it’s like to attend art school during RISD’s six-week residential program. Students focus on one of 20 majors, which include fashion design, jewelry, and even furniture design, to gain specialized expertise. Fashion design students will have the opportunity to show off garments that they designed and constructed at an exhibition at the end of the program.
Program Dates and Requirements: June 23 to August 4. Open to 16 to 18 year olds. Registration Deadline: Deposits are due on April 9, and applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Tuition and Fees: $4,875 for tuition and $150 health services fee (lab fees and supplies are additional costs)

Fashion Institute of Technology’s Pre-College Programs (New York, NY)
FIT’s three-week High School Summer Live program features courses in magazine design, advertising, model drawing, and menswear design. The school also offers a four-day boot camp with crash courses in costume and couture, fashion forecasting, and fashion journalism— ideal for students with busy summer schedules.
Program Dates and Requirements: High School Summer Live classes meet four days a week from July 9 to July 26, and students can take one or two classes a day. The pre-college boot camp workshops meet for four conservative days from July 30 to August 2.
Registration Deadline: June 8
Tuition and Fees: Summer Live Program: Around $300 for one course. Pre-College workshop program: One course is $242. Reduced prices are available for New York residents.

LIM, a school that focuses exclusively on the study of business and fashion, is offering a four-week pre-college program with courses on topics such as fashion photography, celebrity styling, event planning, and marketing communications. There’s even a class called "Fashion Police!"
Program Dates and Requirements: July 9 to August 3. Students can take a total of up to eight courses over four weeks, or as few as two. Open to students entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year of high school.
Registration Deadline: No deadline. Students can register right up until the start of class provided that the course is still open, but the registration deadline for optional housing is June 30.
Tuition and Fees: $225 per course, per week tuition fee and a $25 registration fee

Parsons The New School of Design’s Summer Intensive Studies Program (Paris and New York)
Why wait until college to study abroad? Parsons is offering two- and four-week-long "boot camps" in art design to students 16 years and older in Paris. In the "Fashion Industry Now: Paris" class, students will draw inspiration from the streets, fashion exhibitions, and retail districts in the city. For those who want to stay closer to home, Parsons also offers classes in New York’s Greenwich Village. Even middle school (and younger) students can get in on the fun, as additional New York classes are available for students entering grades 3-12.
Program Dates and Requirements: Paris: July 2 to July 27. New York: May 29 to June 22 (Session I) and July 2 to July 27 (Session II). Students must be 16 years of age (and younger than 19) as of July 2, 2012 to attend both programs.
Registration Deadline: Paris: May 1. New York: April 15 for Session I and May 1 for Session II. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Housing application deadline is May 1 for both Paris and New York.

High school students can earn four college credits at Pratt’s intensive college-level program. Fashion classes are offered in jewelry/metal arts and fashion design, and students can choose between Pratt’s downtown Manhattan campus and its Brooklyn location.
Program Dates and Requirements: July 9 to August 3. Open to students entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year of high school (minimum age: 16 years).
Registration Deadline: April 1 is the application deadline, but applications are accepted until June 1 (with a late fee).

Drel University’s Design, Merchandising, and Fashion Program (Philadelphia, PA)
During Drel’s two-week program, students will work in design studios and take field trips to retailers and boutiques. The program also helps students create personal portfolios, which is an important part of the design school application process.
Program Dates and Requirements: July 8 to 21. Open to rising high school seniors (must be at least 16 years old).

This one-week workshop teaches students basic pattern drafting and sewing construction techniques. Middle school students can get in on the fun as well: there are separate workshops for grades 7-9.

Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising’s 3 Days of Fashion Program (California)
Aspiring designers can take workshops such as "Draping the Dress" during this three-day crash-course program that teaches high school students about launching a career in the fashion industry. The flexible program is offered throughout the summer at FIDM’s various campuses across California.
Program Dates and Requirements: Orange County: June 18 to 20; San Diego: June 21 to 23; San Francisco: June 25 to 27; Los Angeles: June 27 to 29. Open to all high school students, but limited spaces available for freshmen and sophomores.

This five-week program gives young students the opportunity to build their visual arts portfolios. Fashion technology, video production, and drawing classes are capped at 20 students, allowing for a small and nurturing learning experience. Student even have a chance of being automatically admitted to SCAD for further undergraduate study after the completion of the summer program.
Program Dates and Requirements: June 23 to July 28. Open to high school seniors only. Registration Deadline: April 15 is the priority deadline for applications.

School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s Early College Program (Chicago, IL)
This program is designed to give students the opportunity to focus on a single area of art in depth. A Session 1 course on fashion design teaches students the basics of fashion illustration, and a Session 2 course on fashion construction provides a foundation in draping, patternmaking, and sewing. Students can develop an original garment from first sketch to sample.
Program Dates and Requirements: Session 1: June 25 to July 13 and Session 2: July 17 to 27. Students can choose to participate in one or both sessions, but Session 2 does build on the lessons in Session 1. Open to all high school students.
