Exclusive! Holland Roden Invited Us to Get Ready With Her for Comic-Con
- 1/9
Whenever Holland Roden hits the red carpet, she manages to simultaneously look glam and edgy—a balancing act that not many can pull off. During nighttime appearances, she dolls it up (remember when we got ready with the star for the VMA’s?) and for the day, she keeps it cool with a more tomboy approach. We love that she infuses her personal style into each look she rocks. So, for today’s Comic-Con convention in San Diego, the Teen Wolf star went with a laid back approach to both her outfit and makeup.

Makeup Party
The first step in mastering daytime summer makeup is starting with great skin. “To create Holland’s flawless complexion, we began with Temptu Airpod Foundation in Ivory. I applied it all over the face and neck,” says Leary. Next, the makeup master did a mashup of highlighting and contouring with Temptu Airpod Foundation in Porcelain and Warm Ivory. “I wanted her skin to look really dewy, yet still be wearable,” says Leary. To top off her luminous face, Leary applied Temptu Invisible Difference Finishing Powder down Holland’s t-zone—this banishes any excess oil/shine while keeping the overall look incredibly glowy.

Glow Getter
What summer look is complete without a rosy flush? Leary used Temptu Airpod blush in Pale Pink just on the apples of Holland’s cheeks and Nude Pink from the mid-apple up to the hairline to create some depth. “Since the jumpsuit is green, I wanted to be sure to use colors rich in tonality so that the look was cohesive,” Leary explains. Then, she completed complexion perfection with touches of the Temptu Airpod Highlighter in Sunset Glow along the highpoints of Holland’s Face.

Just Reflecting
“Holland is wearing an amazing hunter green Wai Ming jumpsuit—it’s really effortless,” says celeb makeup artist Elle Leary. “We wanted to mimic that look in the makeup and keep everything really easy, because she needs to be out all day long,” she adds. And Holland couldn’t be more excited about being at Comic-Con. “I love it here, because it’s a chance to connect in person with the fans!," the celeb says.

Strike A Pose
Comic-Con is the last place to be boring or basic. “I didn’t want her eye liner to be so stark, like black, so I used colored liner to make things a little more playful,” says Leary. Instead, she went with Benefit They’re Real Push Up Liner in Beyond Green to create a subtle-yet-daring feline flick. Then, she applied the shimmery bronze shade from the Charlotte Tilbury The Vintage Vamp Shadow Palette all over Holland’s lids and topped it off with a few coats of mascara. Who says you can’t be a little experimental during the day?

Wave Runner
And what better hairstyle for a summer day than tousled, beachy waves? “We enhanced the natural texture of Holland’s hair, which has a little bend,” says Leary—who also was Holland’s hair hero. Her secret to pulling off gorgeously mussed strands? “We flat ironed the top so it looked chic and tailored, then added a bit of a wave at the bottom for movement,” she says. Leary’s star styling product is Oribe Texturizing Spray…a Teen Vogue beauty editor staple as well.

The Final Touch
Holland’s adorable floral Lee Savage clutch inspired her pretty pink lip for her big day. “I used a nude liner and my favorite—Temptu Color True Lipstick in Blushed Suede—to finish the look,” says Leary. “I pulled inspiration from the colors in the print of Holland’s clutch,” she adds.
