Karlie Kloss has been a fixture of the fashion industry for nearly a decade now, which is insanely impressive for anyone, but even more so when you realize that she is only 23. Known for her signature strut and sultry smize, Karlie has also made a name for herself thanks to her impeccable personal style. From daily street style looks to daring red carpet appearances, she knows how to make a statement. Here are five sartorial lessons we've gleaned from the multi-talented model.

1. Co-ords will always make you look polished and put together.
Even before Taylor Swift was rocking the trend, Karlie was seen sporting her own take on the coordinated crop top look. Here she darts between shows at NYFW in a navy blue top and wide-leg trousers, expertly accessorized with bright white accessories. Co-ords are an especially great option for Mondays and early morning classes, when the last thing you want to do is figure out what to wear.

2. Flats can totally work for evening.
Bucking the old adage that heels are required for nighttime events, Karlie attended an evening garden party in a chic pair of sandals. Even if you're not model-tall, you can still take a cue from Karlie and sport flats at fancier events. An added bonus: you'll never have to take a break from the dance floor.

3. Take inspiration from the world around you.
Whether you're traveling the world, exploring a new neighborhood in your hometown, or just scrolling through Tumblr, inspiration is everywhere. Here Karlie coordinates her look with Yayoi Kusama's amazing exhibit at the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art in Moscow.

4. Sometimes, it's best to leave more to the imagination.Oftentimes in the fashion and entertainment industries, there is the assumption that showing skin is the only way to make a statement, but as Karlie demonstrates, that is clearly not the case. She wore a gorgeous, floor sweeping gown to the British Fashion Awards that kept things covered, revealing only a hint of skin in the back. It's subtle and alluring, just like the model herself.

5. It's all about confidence.
Last but not least, Karlie has taught us time and again that you can pull any look off — just rock it with confidence. Had someone described to us the sparkly Atelier Versace one-legged jumpsuit she wore to Cannes, we may have been a bit skeptical. But with her bold attitude and signature smize, Karlie knocked it out of the park, and you can do the same.
I would tell myself to try as many different things as possible! College is an amazing time to experiment, indulge your interests, and find out what you’re truly passionate about. What fashion item seems to always be on your shopping list?
