Kendall Jenner Is Bringing Back Your Beloved Junior High Denim Mini
- 1/8
Anyone who looks back on their middle school days undoubtedly has some regrets about outfits they wore. From ultra low-rise denim to backpacks hanging lower than your bum, there were definitely some questionable fashion choices. So when we saw Kendall Jenner rocking one of our go-to pieces from the era — the denim mini skirt — we weren’t quite sure what to think, or how to feel.
The denim skirt comes in many forms, from A-line minis to high-waisted midis, but the hip-slung, shredded denim variety is in a class all it’s own. Popularized by retailers like Abercrombie & Fitch and Hollister, it was a consummate style staple at Friday movie nights and after school dances, worn with layered C&C tank tops and Converse Chuck Taylors. It was a look we’d thought was left in the past forever, until now.
Kendall rocked the throwback piece in a thoroughly modern way, paired with a slouchy off-the-shoulder sweatshirt, but it’s the accessories that really elevate her ensemble. A metal-tipped, Western-inspired belt, open-toe suede booties, gold jewelry, and her Louis Vuitton wallet and furry keychain take the outfit from the early aughts to present day, and have us re-thinking some of other perceived fashion-transgressions. What else can we bring back?
