It can be intimidating to share your ideas with the huge (and growing!) YouTube beauty community, but originality is just what viewers are looking for. Her genuine demeanor comes across in each and every video, drawing you in and making you feel at home in her little slice of the YouTube pie.

**When and why did you first decide to start your channel? **
When I was in eighth grade, my friend introduced me to JuicyStar07 because she’d been watching her channel and knew I was into makeup and fashion. I instantly fell in love with the entire community and one of my favorite gurus, Hayleyistcb, really inspired me to get involved. In the fall of my sophomore year, I worked up the courage to start making videos. I was very nervous about what the other girls at school would say when they found out about it, but I quickly overcame that fear because I’m doing something that I truly love and am passionate about.
What’s your beauty philosophy?
Every girl is beautiful without makeup! Although it may cover up your insecurities, you deserve to feel confident without it.

**What’s in your makeup bag right now? **
All I’ve been wearing on a daily basis is the Revlon PhotoReady Concealer, MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Soft and Gentle, MAC Blush in Desert Rose, Urban Decay Primer Potion, Urban Decay Naked2 Palette, L’Oréal Paris Liner Intense Liquid Eyeliner, CoverGirl Clump Crusher Mascara, and an EOS lip balm! It sounds like a lot, but when you put it all on, it doesn’t look like too much!
What’s your favorite hairstyle to create?
I like to spend a lot of the time at the beach during the summer with my friends and family, so even though it’s pretty easy to create, beachy waves are my favorite. They look pretty and are a healthy hairstyle to wear because it doesn’t require heat.

Where do you get ideas or inspiration for your tutorials?
I would never limit myself, but a lot of times it’s from magazines, blogs, and other gurus. Sometimes, I’ll get an idea at school in the middle of class and will jot it down in my agenda. It’s really important to me if I pull inspiration from another guru to make sure I’m making my own interpretation of their idea as opposed to copying their video.
Who are a few of your favorite beauty gurus and why do you love their channels?
MissGlamorazzi and SarahBelle93x! To me, a great beauty guru is someone you can tell is very genuine that you can relate to. MissGlamorazzi has a great sense of humor and her videos are always well thought out. You can also tell that she takes pride in editing her videos and makes sure they are great quality for her viewers. SarahBelle93x’s sense of style is just like mine, so when I see that she’s posted a new fashion video or haul, I know I’ll be able to take away some inspiration for my wardrobe.

Do you have advice for a reader who wants to start a channel?
It's all about being genuine in your videos. You aren't going to post one video and wake up the next morning with 50,000 subscribers—it takes time and commitment. Consistency is really important. You can't just post a video once a month because you'll lose viewer interest. Also, make sure you make videos about something you're passionate about and are going to be happy with a few years down the road because it takes a lot of time to create, edit, and upload them.
