Lucy Hale Dishes On Her Pretty Little Liars Character's Style And Back-To-School Fashion

How does your personal style compare to your character Aria's style?
Aria is definitely a little more quirky. She is willing to try anything, mix patterns — there are sort of no limits for her. Whereas for me, since I've been playing Aria, her style has creeped into my style. I've been more willing to take risks, but I am definitely more subdued.

What other projects do you have in the works?
I just signed a record deal, and I've been working on my music on nights and weekends. When I'm not filming the show, I'll be working on music. It's a little crazy, a little hectic, but it's fun to get to venture into that again since music was my first love.

What's your favorite back-to-school fashion memory?
My favorite was probably in the 5th grade. I thought I was really cool, and I wore these sparkly snakeskin pants, and they were horrible. Horrible! But at the time I was like, "People are going to envy me for these pants." I don't remember what top I wore, but that sticks out in my mind since I planned it months before. I mean, these were literally the most heinous pants you've ever seen in your life. I worked them.

Do you have any first day of school styling tips?
What's great about Bongo is that their fall line is really cute, but very appropriate for school — you can still have fun with it. I definitely remember that first day outfit being really big, and I remember I would plan it in the beginning of the summer. I think you should just go for it, and make a statement with whatever you choose. First day back, start fresh!

Why did you team up with Bongo?
What I love about Bongo is that it is very lively. They know exactly who their audience is, and it is pretty much our PLL fan base. It’s a great partnership, and I love working with them.
