Doctors Are Warning Shoppers That Lush Valentine's Day Bath Bombs Are Not Sex Toys

U.K. beauty brand Lush Cosmetics is constantly dropping new cult-favorite bath bombs. Some have glitter, some are two-tone, others make your bath look like a shimmery purple-and-blue solar system sky. And, while they quickly begin to lose their shape once placed in the bath, the company has also begun to shape them into more recognizable items other than round balls. Take, for example, their most recent Valentine’s Day launch: the eggplant. The only problem is that it apparently could lead to customers pushing the boundaries of the bath bomb's intended use and mistaking it for a sex toy. Yes, you read that right.

Doctors are now making PSA-style announcements to discourage shoppers from turning their bath bomb into a makeshift sex toy. Metro UK spoke to Dr. Vanessa Mackay, a spokesperson for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, who urged, “We would strongly discourage the use of bath bombs internally as these could disturb the fragile balance of good bacterial inside the vagina.” What’s more, the complications only multiply with the strong likelihood that this product — meant to quickly dissolve in water — breaks apart. Lush declined to counter the claim when asked by the publication, simply going on record as saying, “We don’t need to comment on that.”

It’s kind of shocking that the idea of customers trying this bath-bomb-meets-sex-toy experiment that it requires a medical announcement.
