Every Single Outfit The Obama Girls Wore During Inauguration Weekend
So, you want to be an Obama girl? Get in line. We've gushed about their enviable sisterly style before, and yesterday we looked back at inauguration outfits from decades past. Of course, Malia and Sasha totally turned it out for the 2013 inauguration festivities, too.
From concert frocks to colorful coats, let's enjoy a little sartorial breakdown of the presidential weekend that was. Our only regret is that they didn't get to go to an inaugural ball!

On Saturday night, the girls attended the Kids' Inaugural Concert with their mom. Their ensembles reminded us of what they wore on election night, albeit with a winter-appropriate twist. 11-year-old Sasha once again went the top-cardigan-skirt (and mid print!) route, while 14-year-old Malia paired a 3/4-sleeve top with a belted full skirt that hit above the knee. And because it was totally freezing in Washington, both sisters accessorized with tights (we seriously approve of Malia's ribbed maroon ones) and boots.

Now we get to the big day! We’ve always admired the Obamas’ coats, and yesterday’s coverups did not disappoint. Malia and Sasha fought the cold in J.Crew and Kate Spade, respectively. Malia’s coat was apparently off-the-rack, though she replaced the buttons to make it her own. So clever! Black tights and sensible shoes were an excellent choice, as were the complementary purple hues.

Though the ceremonial inaugural swearing-in was held on Monday, the official swearing-in took place Sunday morning. For the quiet White House proceeding, Malia layered a blue skater dress from H&M over a black shell for a colorblocked effect; Sasha forwent an extra layer with her purple lace Tracy Reese frock (part of the designer’s Plenty line for Anthropologie), though she did add a gold belt. Taking cues from Michelle, perhaps? The First Lady is a belting fan, plus she famously wore a Tracy Reese number — also available at Anthro — at last year’s Democratic National Convention.

For the inaugural parade, the Obama family shed their outerwear as they watched for a glass-enclosed seating area. We like Malia's blurple (yes, blurple) J.Crew dress, but it's Sasha's striped Kate Spade number and statement necklace that stole the show.
