The Makeup
For such a star-studded show, only a celebrity makeup artist would do— so it's no wonder that , a book from the '60s whose character Kate had heavy eyelashes. The complexion is meant to look like it's glowing, like the girls have been dancing, and by eliminating the blush it gives a strange, otherworldly effect. The focus was really on the eye, with a well-defined brow. The combination of different touches creates a decadent, French sensuality and makes the girls more like characters."
To achieve the dewy, glowing look, Nars lightly applied Sheer Glow Foundation. For the strong, dramatic eyes, he used three pairs of false eyelashes for each model. He says, "The inner corners of one pair were cut off and applied to the inner corners. Then we cut the remaining two pairs in half and used the outer halves on the outer corners, not at the same time, of course. We applied one set, and then followed with the next."
Sleek eyeliner rimmed the eyes and eliminated the space between the lashes and the lash line, while thick coats of voluminizing mascara was brushed on for additional emphasis. The brow was sharply defined with Pandora Duo Eyeshadow.
Lips, however, were kept very natural and nude with Madère Pure Matte Lipstick and Lip Gloss. Nars notes, though, that there is absolutely no blush involved, keeping the emphasis on the eyes.

The Hair
"This look was inspired by and resembles a 1960s girl who was dancing all night," says Guido, Redken Creative Consultant. The vintage updo was a fusion of the best of the '60s and '20s, with its elegant French twist and pieces of fabric used as headbands.
To get this look, Guido applied Satinwear 02 Ultimate Blow-Dry Lotion to damp hair and rough dried it to add texture. Then, he created a small left side part about an inch back from the hairline. He pulled the rest of the hair into a French twist and secured with bobby pins. He then sprayed the entire shape with Forceful 23 Super Strength Finishing Spray to secure the hair in place. The overuse of this product gives the hair a wet look. Lastly, he combed the front bangs and applied a few bobby pins to keep the hair close to the head, finishing this section with Forceful 23 Super Strength Finishing Spray.
