30 Times We Wanted to Borrow Mindy Kaling's Outfit

The bolder, the better.

If you ever need a crash course in rocking bold colors and prints, look no further than Mindy Kaling. The creator and star of The Mindy Project has never been one to shy away from daring fashion choices — and they always pay off. It seems that Mindy turns to bright colors, bold prints, and out-of-the-box combos in the way most people turn to little black dresses — a trait she shares with her Mindy Project character, Mindy Lahiri. In fact, the show’s costume designer, Salvador Perez, regularly designs looks for Mindy to don IRL; and together, the pair has garnered such a fan base that they launched a line for devotees to shop.

One thing’s for sure: No matter where Mindy (Kaling or Lahiri) goes, you can count on her outfit being an extension of her magnetic personality. And, in honor of her 36th birthday this month, we’re browsing back through some of her brightest and boldest looks.
