Netflix Picks: 7 Best Shows to Stream in September
As September begins, it’s time to officially say goodbye to summer. We’re gearing up to pack away our sundresses and jorts, trade in the iced coffee for pumpkin spice, and dust off the pencils and notebooks for back-to-school season. The weather will soon start getting a little colder, which is the perfect excuse to watch Netflix, right? As summer starts to fade into autumn, break out your comfiest clothes, grab your favorite pumpkin snacks, and settle into a good old fashioned binge. Here are seven shows that we think you should stream this month, from classics to some brand new gems.

If you like The Walking Dead, you should try iZombie
Season 1 of iZombie is currently on Netflix, with season 2 rumored to hit sometime later this fall (and the brand new season 3 will be appearing on the CW, so here’s your perfect opportunity to catch up). The show follows a medical resident named Liv who is turned into a zombie and then takes up a job at a morgue in order to feed her appetite. The twist on the typical zombie genre is that whenever Liv eats a victim, she temporarily takes on his or her personality and she has visions that tell her how the person died.

If you want a show to tell it like it is, binge on Love
Love is a Netflix original series that premiered in February 2016. Created by Judd Apatow, Paul Rust, and Lesley Arfin, the show stars Paul alongside Gillian Jacobs (of Girls and Community). Paul plays Gus, a tutor, and Gillian portrays Mickey, a program manager at a radio station. Through their experiences and relationships, Love gives us a realistic — if slightly twisted — look at romance and dating.

If you’re looking for an all-star cast, check out Easy
Premiering on Netflix on September 23, Easy is being teased as a “comedy anthology series” that is set in Chicago. The series will star Orlando Bloom, Dave Franco, Jake Johnson (a.k.a. Nick on New Girl), and Emily Ratajkowski. Easy will track a large cast of characters as they explore Chicago’s culture, while dealing with their own lives and relationships.

If you want to fall in love with new characters, try Sense8
If you haven’t tried Sense8 yet, you need to stop what you’re doing and do so immediately. The series, which premiered on Netflix last year, tells the story of eight strangers who share one huge connection: they all have the same vision of a woman dying violently. From then on, these people are connected through a psychic and emotional link, making them “sensates.”

If music fills your soul, pull up The Get Down
The Get Down premiered in August, with the release of the first half of the show’s initial season. With an amazing cast consisting of Justice Smith, Shameik Moore, Jaden Smith, and Skylan Brooks, The Get Down tells the story of the birth of hip-hop in the Bronx.

If you love superheroes, set your calendar for Luke Cage
Luke Cage appeared in Jessica Jones, and he’s now getting his own show. The Marvel series premieres on Netflix on September 30 and will follow the title character as he goes from a former convict to a superhero who fights crime. His superhero status occurs after an experiment gone wrong, resulting in extreme strength and unbreakable skin. The show will star Mike Colter as Luke, who also played same the role in Jessica Jones.

If you’re counting the days until Gilmore Girls, watch Parenthood
Parenthood ran for six seasons on NBC, from 2010 to 2015. It follows the Braverman family (you might need a family tree to keep up) as they experience the ups and downs of relationships and life. Among the many stars of the series are Dax Shepard, Monica Potter, Mae Whitman (from The Duff), and Lauren Graham (AKA LORELAI GILMORE). Parenthood is the perfect series to tide you over until the Gilmore Girls revival premieres on November 25.
