Absolutely brilliant is the quintessentially British way that Laura Tarrant-Brown, 23, describes the experience of working with Crabtree Evelyn. She adds, It's not every day that a huge beauty brand hires a 22-year-old! But that's exactly what the company did when they tapped Laura, then a student at London design school Central St. Martins, to create packaging for its two new scents, Lost and Found. (Lost is a romantic mix of ginger flower and peach, while Found blends zesty grapefruit and spun sugar.) I drew on the art, film, and music worlds when I was brainstorming, Laura notes. Then, I focused on elements that were truly English, from floral patterns to bowler hats. The result of the eclectic mix? Effortless cool.

Ask 21-year-old Edward Bess why he moved to New York City from South Carolina at the tender age of fifteen, and the answer comes without hesitation: Bergdorf Goodman. When I was thirteen, my mother and I took a trip to the city and that department store was our first stop. It's a magical place—I realized that New York had to be my home. Just four years later, a chance encounter during an internship in retail fortuitously led him to his current passion: cosmetics. I was standing at the makeup counter one day when a woman asked my opinion on lipstick colors, he recalls. I decided that's what I needed to do—help women realize their personal beauty. His creation, Edward Bess Lip Wardrobe, is ingenious yet simple: a full collection of lip color every woman needs, from a barely-there nude to the perfect red.

It may not be surprising that TESS (Teen Everyday Skincare System) cofounder Ryan Shand, fifteen, is outspoken when it comes to products. I hate how some can feel like hand cream—but on your face. Or when they make your skin superirritated. Or when they smell like chemicals, explains the Santa Barbara, California, teen. Those examples (just three of like, a million reasons) were the impetus for her to create TESS with her mom. Our goal was to make high-end products just for teens. We already have more than 60 items in development, she says. But it won't be long before she and her mom are inspired again. We have the perfect focus group—my sleepover parties.
