Zendaya’s jewel-encrusted platforms, watching Fifth Harmony get slimed, watching Fifth Harmony scream and run away after getting slimed — there was a lot to take in at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday. One thing you didn’t see, though? All the special behind-the-scenes moments that come from attending such an exciting event IRL, be it creating just the right look (yes, even the ones that wind up covered in goo!) to receiving your own blimp.
To give you an insider's glimpse of #orangecarpetlife (if it’s not a hashtag already, it should be!) we followed The Thundermans star Kira Kosarin from the moment she began getting ready to her big win (congrats, Kira!). Read for her full KCA diary!

“I originally planned to wear something brightly colored with a lot of pattern for the orange carpet, but this sequined white Parker dress changed my mind instantly. We added tons of colorful accessories to make the look really fun: hot pink Aldo shoes, BCBGeneration beaded clutch, Charles Albert and Henri Bendel jewels.”

“I had the idea to try a faux bob for the show a few months ago, so I was really excited when we realized it would work with the dress we picked. I was also a little nervous — I’ve never had short hair! I'm so happy with how the finished look out, though, I’m considering a real chin length cut.”

“Finding the perfect dress for an awards show is only half the battle; you also need the right beauty look to complement it. This time around, that meant accenting soft and glowy makeup with bright pink lips and loads of lashes. I usually play up my eyes instead of lips, so going with a bold, graphic lip was a fun way to switch things up. I think it worked especially well with the all-white outfit.

“While walking the orange carpet was fun, my favorite moment of the night by far was winning our very first Kids’ Choice Award. I've dreamed of winning a blimp since I was a little kid, and I couldn't be prouder to share it with my Thundermans family. Thank you to everyone who's ever watched the show. This is all because of you!”
