Giving Back: Actor Noah Munck
CAUSES: Sixteen-year-old Noah Munck is committed to several philanthropies. Camp del Corazon on Catalina Island provides free, residential summer camp to children who are living with heart diseases. Noah visits the camp every year and helps publicize its efforts. He also goes on an annual international service trip to help rebuild Haiti, which was devastated by an earthquake in 2010.
GET INVOLVED: Donate, fundraise, or volunteer at Camp del Corazon. The Haiti Relief Fund and the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund are two of many organizations that accept donations to help rebuild the country.

"I shot an episode about two years ago, and the main feature of the episode was Camp del Corazon, a camp for kids with heart disease. The medical supplies they need are all there, and they can have fun. I was playing a heart patient in that episode, and it really impacted me. I knew that I needed to somehow get involved. Ever since then, I've been supporting the camp by visiting over the summer to play with the kids, doing publicity, going to their galas, and helping in any way that I can."

"I go down to Haiti at least once a year with a mission team to build houses and do micro financing. I went right before Christmas and it was heartbreaking, though things were in better shape than the last time I went. I started by working with an orphanage and hanging out with kids there. After that, I built a house and helped feed the homeless. It's incredibly rewarding."

"Camp del Corazon is a great place where the kids can go. They don't have to worry about if they have a heart-related incident because they have the equipment there and the doctors on the staff to help them. It's cool to see that the kids are not made fun of because they have a scar, or don't quite fit in. They're just normal kids who want to have fun, and this gives them the opportunity to experience summer camp. They wouldn't be able to do that otherwise."

"I'm committed to making Haiti a better place; it's in need right now. I also go to Malawi and support a child there. Malaria is an epidemic there, and distributing nets is an easy fix, but it's not happening enough. I'd like to visit there again soon."

"Whenever I'm not working, I try to incorporate philanthropy into my life. I suggest finding a group of friends or people you love, and going on a service trip with them. That will be the most effective because they'll have the same goals as you, and you can work together. Where there is need, I want to go help. I want to find ways to stop the hurt and pain in different countries around the world, including our own."
