A Look Back at the Obama White House Christmas Cards Through the Years
The Obamas just sent out their final White House Christmas card and as to be expected, it was amazing. The card features a photo of the family taken during at a state dinner in March. Our first lady Michelle is wearing a custom floral gown by Jason Wu. Malia and Sasha are each wearing embroidered gowns by Naaem Khan. The Christmas card was more than a reminder that we are living in the last days with our beautiful first family but that we watched Malia and Sasha grow up. They were just 10 and 7 years of age, respectively, when their father became President of the United States. Let’s take a look at Christmas cards past and see how their style has evolved, shall we?

We were introduced to the Obamas’ first Christmas card in a quiet, understated way, much like the girls style during President Obama’s earliest years at the White House.

Meanwhile, our favorite girls were ready to be photographed in dresses that give a hint of their personalities: Malia layered her necklaces and turned her belt buckle to the side while Sasha accessorized her dress with layered bracelets and a bow ring.

The Obamas brought Bo — the first dog — into their lives and into ours, making things official with a holiday card.

The girls took a page out of Michelle’s style book that year, wearing monochromatic looks to the TNT Christmas in Washington celebration. Malia donned exaggerated sleeves that would be on trend today while Sasha chose a short lavender tutu.

Bo melted our hearts again in 2012 when he made the White House lawn his snowy playground.

The girls continued to show off their love for ASOS that year. Malia rocked a colorblocked sweater and boots while Sasha mixed patterns with her Aztec print dress, polka dot tights, and flats.

In our opinion, this is by far the coolest Christmas card the Obama family sent out — well, up until this point that is. The 2013 greeting featured a pop-up White House with dogs Sunny and Bo in tow.

At the same time, 2013 marked a shift in Malia and Sasha's style evolution. The First daughters began to assert themselves sartorially for the first time (just look at Sasha's cut-out heeled loafers for proof).

Again, we see our two favorite Portuguese Water dogs, this time inside the White House.

Malia and Sasha wore similar style dresses to TNT’s Christmas in Washington: Malia in a velvet skater dress with sheer floral tights and Sasha in a high neck skater dress from ASOS.

Call us biased but this card is the most innovative we’ve seen thus far considering the laser-cut fold-outs.
